Open world Switch exclusive, you play as 151 different races, day/night replaced by 4 different 12-hour shifts, gyms/trials both gone, replaced with something you won't expect but I won't talk about that, no more Megas (replaced with Digimiibo coins) and GameFreak looking at Grand Theft Auto Online/Destiny as role models, reportedly Nintendo-san went to GTA Studios to study how they make their games, narrative is nonlinear now and focused on "moment system" of players making their own stories, you can see other players' ghosts (think like Pokemon Souls kind of) and make your own stages, Pokemongachu is new system where you can gamble on DeNA smartphone app and you need to download it to play the game on Switch.

I'd personally like a GSC announcement for VC and Gen 4 remakes. That way all seven gens can be connected without owning more than one 3DS

Hopefully SM2, but RB2 would be acceptable too if it's still a continuation of SM. DP remakes would be disappointing on a system that can still play the originals. Straight up FRLG remake would be the dumbest thing. Surprise BW3 would be the best thing.

Not much, only Lucario and Piplup from the new movie comes to mind (although Serebii says that there are "myriad of Sinnoh Pokémon promotions" but I guess I missed them)

Pokemon Stars rumor - can be anything, can be third version of SM can be SM ports for Switch can be SM2, can be a codename for the two above, can be something new entirely

Regardless of what is annouced, I will only be disappointed if -
They only talk about mobile games
They talk about a spin off game that isn't a new Pokemon Ranger (I don't care about any other spinoff)
They announce a new mainline game...that is the third version of Sun and Moon

Last one is because well for starters Sun and Moon aren't that great
And because it's only been half a year since they released and I finished playing them only 2 weeks ago and I played since release (don't ask) so I am kind of sick of them at this point
Would be ok with a sequel like BW2

I just realized that there is something very plausible that they can announce and it will be more disappointing for me than anything else I can think of
A few days ago Niantic said they plan on releasing PvP and Legendaries on Pokemon GO this summer
If they believe Pokemon GO hype is still alive it means they are willing to do a direct for that

Thanks god Masuda retweeted the tweet about the Direct so it might mean it's not Pokemon GO news (I think)

I don't think I would want a Red/Blue 2. It already has a sorta continuation in Gold/Silver anyways. I doubt we'd be getting an entire new generation so soon though so it's probably the 3rd Sun/Moon version or something.

I am not a Sun/Moon hater, I have 290 hours in Sun and 130 in Moon (according to the activity log..I played it 3 times, gotta rack up those legendaries you know?)
The story mode itself was pretty fun the first time, it was challenging (at least when I put self imposed challenges like no EXP Share and no Z Moves)
But when all said and done..I had a bitter taste in my mouth, little things that ruined my enjoyment in the game

SOS Mechanics sucks when you don't want to use it
Disappointing Elite Four
No National Dex (this is a big one, I play Pokemon for collecting stuff mostly)
Linear map design and some areas feel..not complete. What is with the lighthouse? the Gulf Course? why the Wela Volcano just teleport you from entrance to exit?
I expected Ultra Beasts to be part of the main game, but then they were just a boring sidequest
No hidden dungeons and hidden Pokemon to find in them, Necrozma is the only one hidden and it was just a random encounter like all UB
Leveling sucks
85% of the new Pokemon were officialy revealed prior to release, we barely had any surprises

But again, I have more than 400 hours in Gen 7
I just expected..more of them, you know?

Edit - just realized that 290+130 thing doesn't count soft resets. Oh boy..

Probably just Pokken Tournament Switch with the arcade characters and maybe a couple of new guys.

Pokemon Sun/Moon is a lot better, though. The game does start out a bit slow in the beginning, but the story really starts picking up the pace once you reach the second island (about maybe 2 hours into the game). You won't have to wait very long for the story to start moving. Pokemon X/Y was a lot worse in that area, as the story didn't really start picking up the pace until at least 10 hours into the game (and there's a pretty huge gap between getting the first and second badge).

Oh, neat. That's actually really good to know. I'll see what this announcement is, and maybe jump into Sun/Moon from there. Or wait for Stars on Switch if it's more of a S/M port, since I do prefer TV display when possible.

I like the alternate forms for old Pokemon idea, it has a lot of potential
It just...lacked in variety and numbers. Only 18? Only 10 families? really
I expected stuff like encountering a Fire/Grass Victreebel in a jungle, Alola forms for non gen 1 Pokemon etc..
