You know, I wonder if there's a middle ground between singling out "Islamist Terror" and desperately avoiding using the words "Muslim" or "Islam" when describing stuff done by ISIS

I wonder if discrimination would be lessened from the start if we were more precise and called it "Radical Wahhabist Terrorism."

In more NORMAL political news, Trump announced today that he's privatizing Air Traffic Control.

I didn't get a chance to read any articles about it, but on the surface this seems like a good idea to me, as long as there are still federal guidelines for air traffic they all still must follow.

What are the potential drawbacks, besides the obvious immediate one of upheaval for current ATCs

Wahhabism is the official state-sponsored religion of Saudi Arabia, so that's never gonna happen until we cut ties with the Saudis.

1: One of the points of privatization is efficiency. Regularly at the expense of guidelines.

Which, generally speaking, when involved in flying machines weighing in a little under a million pounds each moving around 600 MPH, are kind of important.

2: Shakeup of probably the biggest travel industry is never good. There is literally never a good time to implement this.

3: Do you really think he came up with this on his own? Air Traffic Control, of all things? It was probably proposed by someone who would very specifically benefit from it, and probably isn't written up with the interests of anyone but that guy in mind.

My understanding is that it was absolutely poorly handled on both ends, but yeah unless she was a complete idiot she'd have to know that she'd be tracked down fairly quickly.

Honestly though, the more interesting thing is that the arrest is better confirmation of the validity of the doc itself than whatever The Intercept did to confirm it <_<

I actually agree with the statement in a literal as-written manner, but not the intent or sentiment behind it.

The guy that said that is obviously against the leak because it's Anti-Trump, but even giving it the best of intentions I can only think it was leaked to provide more insight to the media/public on the extent of Russia's influence and why aligning with Russia is a Bad Thing™

Which is interesting, but absolutely doesn't come anywhere near whistleblower territory, especially since it exposes the investigation.

Not that I'm arguing this is what happened, but they'd just as soon arrest someone for leaking falsified or doctored information that was passed off as top secret, especially given the high profile nature of the information.
