Yeah seems you're the sheriff of this county and a religious cult takes hold of the town.

There's potential in the premise but this is also in the hands of Ubisoft writers and designers, and I don't trust them to turn this into a remotely interesting or compelling game.

I highly doubt they're going to address what the protagonist leans politically. They could, but it would be pointless imo

I like (love was too strong a word) the games but I hate their more "zany" characters, they're like really poor GTA knock-offs. Especially the junkies.

No one who would get upset about something like that would play fa enough to reveal that plot point and subsequently go online to whine about it.

I really love this setting, but my biggest fear is that this is basically just another re-skinned Far Cry 3/4 clone. The scene with the bear chasing the one guy (which was way overdone in FC4) definitely worries me.

The formula has definitely become stale across most big Ubi franchises. I played AC: Rogue recently and though I loved the campaign I just couldn't bring myself to do the busy-work again for the nth time which of course leaves you with a short game because the menial sidestuff tends to make up the majority of the content. I can't see myself buying anymore of their games unless they're dirt cheap on sale just because I've basically already played it at least 4 times regardless of the franchise.

I hope they do the wildlife better this time. Animal encounters were done well in 3, but 4 turned them into just another part of the formula. There were situations where you could count on a predator showing up almost every single time like clockwork. It was bad and noticable. I never played Primal so I don't know if they fixed it.

Yeah, I felt like they really dropped the ball with 4. Even though it was a clone of FC3, it somehow made the gameplay a lot worse. The aforementioned predator encounters, the fact that the first couple of hours of every new game are spent hunting animals in the starting area to collect pelts and upgrade your wallet/bags, the tedious sidequests (the Shangri-La stuff, racing, and arena fights were terrible), the hours of playing icon janitor picking up loot chests and collectibles that didn't add to the story, and the complete segmentation of the gameplay (clear towers/outposts) from the story scenes. Even the fortresses, which should have been a real strong point and tied in directly with the story, were simply glorified outposts.

Also, the fact that the only good ending is the one that happens 15 minutes into the game. The two other endings when you play all the way through -- just helping different authoritarians rise to power -- are disappointing.

They really should just go all out and create as much of a shitstorm as possible because you already know it's going to have drama because of fragile sensibilities. Didn't read through the topic so not directing that at anyone itt

Eh, I liked Far Cry 3 and 4, so I'll give this a shot even though I prefer more exotic or war torn locations.

I'm kind of hoping if he is the Sheriff, it means he knows the area well and we won't be required to do stupid tower climbing sections to unlock the map.

Far Cry 3 and Far Cry 4 were surprisingly good, or at least decent on PC from what I recall.

At least compared to Assassins Creed and Watch Dogs ports.

My favorite thing about the Fry Cry series is people's reactions when an animal unexpectedly shows up to ruin their day, or when people make videos of them watching the animals go after fodder. I sure hope they go for broke with the political shitposting as well because they've already pissed off the alt-right and alt-left.

I don't know how anyone can say 4 was just a reskinned 3. Shooting from vehicles and having air vehicles really opened up a lot more in the game, plus the co op stuff.

Not every sequel needs to completely redefine a genre.

That being said, this shit looks way better than Primal.

Because they reused a lot of assets from 3, probably the most noticeable being the player character's animations. But you're right, they did add enough to justify the sequel IMO. Plus I liked 4's setting a little more

Yeah I thought Far Cry 4 was way better simply in terms of gameplay. But it was definitely way too similar to Far Cry 3. I enjoyed both of them, but I see no reason to get Far Cry 5 if it's just going to be the exact same game again, even if it improves a little bit once again.

I mean it was literally the same thing except with a few added features (grappling hook, gyrocopter and some different weapons) plus a less annoying crafting system that didn't require half a minute to exit out of every time you opened it.

Shangri-la or w/e they had in there (I don't remember) and the drug scenes were probably the only "unique" parts to the game, and they were pretty cool.
