I believe that the winner by definition played the best game of the season.

My only caveat would be very specific hypothetical medevac circumstances. Like say Mike Holloway wins the final immunity, but before that night's Final 4 Tribal Council he gets medevac'd for some reason

Yeah I think under the right circumstances I could say that a medevac genuinely played the best game that season, but it would have to be a very late medevac (as good as Penner was playing in Micro, his evac was just way too early to determine exactly what woulda coulda shoulda been) and the only two people that have been evacuated late enough for me to even grant that consideration didn't play even remotely good enough for me to say yeah, maybe they were the best.

I still more or less insist that the Joe Del Campo Medevac cost Aubry 1 million dollars since Michelle was 1000% going home that night.

The fact that Aubry was still in the game mitigates that. She still had the opportunity to win

Sia, bad as he is, appears to be an established user with a lot of karma. Poll is clearly a troll alt. One need only look at his namesake to know that.

This is actually my only account (at least the only one I remember the password to). I stumbled across this while viewing the contest.

That said, I no doubt pre-date all of you as a member of this site.

I also think it's ironic that we talk about being bitter about losing in reference to Russell's juries when he was the most bitter of all about losing.

He praised Sandra for burning his hat.

Also, to the people saying Cambodia had a more cohesive storyline than Game Changers. Uh...no.

As much as it sucked, the ending of Game Changers made complete sense. Sarah and Brad were both painted as strong competitors in their own right, but Sarah was given more credit for her strategic and social game while Brad became more of a background character come the merge. As such, Sarah scored a 7-3 victory that still allowed Brad a modicum of respect in the number of votes he received.

Compare that to Cambodia. Tasha getting zero votes was fine. They built her up as a bitch and a follower that the jury wouldn't vote for. But they edited the season as Jeremy is good, but look at how Spencer is the STAR and this is gonna be a clash of the titans...right up until Jeremy scores a 10-0-0 blowout. The editors didn't bother making Spencer look bad enough to explain getting outright shut out until the final 4 tribal council. Plus you have storylines like Abi hating Woo, but then she actually votes him out (and she was the reason Woo was targeted over Andrew) and neither one is the focus. Kelly Wiglesworth goes from invisible to HUGE SOCIAL THREAT that warrants an unnecessary blindside. Keith and Kimmi get completely ignored (and unlike Aubry/Troyzan who didn't really play a strong role in the season, they were actually involved in things).

Cambodia was the first season to really start the whole "episodic" feel of Survivor. Sure, Game Changers had similar problems, but Game Changers also had more heart and soul for the first half, whereas Cambodia was pretty much below average from episode one onwards.

I'm a Russell fan for sure. Although I haven't seen Samoa. He's responsible for getting me back into Survivor for the first time since All-Stars because my Dad told me how amazing he was and that I had to watch him play again in HvV. Obviously watching the best season ever did a lot to get me interested again but then I didn't watch again until he played again in RI lol.

If you get to the end and do not win the jury vote, then by definition, you did not play the best game.

This. This is exactly what I hate. There's this misconception to treat jury members like they've just descended from the gates of heaven, and they are only capable of perfection and nothing they do can ever be wrong or unfair. So many people have this view. And it just feeds the entitlement you see more and more in jury speeches and and jury reactions every season.

Every person on the jury is a human being. And just as capable of making a mistake as someone else. If as a jury member you delude yourself into believing that a shitty player "outplayed" everyone, that he "actually outplayed everyone precisely by doing nothing!" and you invent all these bullshit reasons and arguments so you can lie to yourself and salvage a wounded pride, then you're wrong. You're being unfair. And you're wrong. And you're inconsistent with your own arguments, you're disgracing the game, and you're wrong.

I played an online game based on survivor and big brother on another board that started with 100 players and I won because my f2 partner who dominated the first 3/4 of the game took a Russellesque approach to the jury while I had critical wins in the final quarter (big brother format) and kept his ass safe week after week, and in the end, I knew what the jury was looking for. 2 jurors in particular valued honesty above all else, so I not only approached them with honesty but went above and beyond and came clean about things I did that I wasn't even called out on or questioned about. I was described as being "more human" and won by 1 vote. Those 2 jurors I spoke of had more reason to be bitter toward me also. They had been tribemates and allies of mine since the first merge/shuffle and I nominated one of them as HoH at f11 while directly eliminating the other as veto winner at f4.

I knew my opponent had a much larger resumé in the game, but I had early warning signs that he might mismanage the jury, while I planned to lay out all my cards on the table.

The jury does not appreciate shit like "Technically I didn't LIE to you. I just let you believe what you wanted to believe." Even when that is technically true. They appreciate owning up. I got that. My opponent did not. He lost because he hadn't learned that lesson and I had.

I figured that would be the case with them and the sheepish masses that are the casuals. Ugh...well, that sucks, since it lets Probst try to directly sway the Jury one way towards a finalist he wants to win, and just generally feels like a step down from before where every Juror got a chance to speak. I'm not a fan of it over the previous format, and personally, kind of doubt I ever will be.

He (and Jimmy Johnson) strikes me as a guy who would be distractingly famous. Like I would get to the beach and be like, "What's up Jeff Kent?" Dude was an MVP and borderline hall of famer.

I actually think Rocker is a bit more recognizable even though Kent is more famous. I just read Kent's entry on the Survivor wiki, that's pretty cool that he played hard. I would have guessed he would be like "This is dumb, where's my check?" Like I can't imagine A-Rod taking the game too serious. I wonder if he was a fan of the shoe beforehand or just competitive as most pro athletes are.

Man, looking at the boot order on Wiki, I'm now realizing how tough of a road Aubry had throughout the season. The only person come the merge she spent any substantial amount of time with in the pre-merge was moody, loner Michaela.

She said in the RHAP post game interview that she basically was meeting the rest of the cast halfway through the season. Both Mana and NuNuku were decimated.

Wait, there's a negative perception of Mike? I mean I know that the hardcores didn't like him as a player/character but thought it was a case of "shitty character, decent person."

This randomly reminds me that I saw a video on Youtube once, it looked like it was outside of a hotel, and two former contestants, I want to say it was Jonny Fairplay and Jamie Newton but I'm not 100% positive on either, got into a fight, and Judd Sergeant is in the background, clearly drunk, just staring at it but with this incredibly blank stare almost as if he's staring right through them.
