What would you say is the worst GameFAQs contest out of the three options?

Now that this contest is wrapping up, I think now is the appropiate time to pull out this poll.

Personally, I think this was the worst contest out of the bunch. The rivalry rumble at least had the Cloud/Seph vs the Trainers bonus match and the Sora/Riku Round 2 & 3 matches, and the Villains contest had some funny stuff going on such as Kuja losing to Master Hand. This contest had no real close matches after a few hours into each poll and nothing really to laugh at. It was such a dull experience.

I would say this is the worst as well. Rivalry was weird and nonsensical in many ways, which made it more fun. Villains wasn't that bad all things considered. This was a contest without an audience because who really cares that much about arbitrary measurements of time?

This year had all the makings of a forgettable experience before it even began. We know Ocarina of Time is the game to beat, so you want to stack the bracket so it has as good of a chance of going down in the finals as it will ever get. However, the year format conjoins it to Pokemon Red/Blue, one of the few entities that could take it down, reducing the chances significantly of anything ever happening.

And then, you get all the problems in execution. Asking for write-up blurbs, only to do nothing with them. Keeping the process of how each year is presented to the front page a secret until an hour before bracket lockdown. The scrolling pictures and lack of standards in what games go on them, which may be the worst executed contest gimmick we've ever seen, giving us the rise of pic-dickery. The lack of communication from day one to final battle is just astounding.

And then 1997 puts on a performance that suggests it could have a chance at cracking '98, so it becomes a victim of pic-dickery and loses to 2001, which has no chance of taking down 98, leaving us to what could be a doubling in the final match.

Yeah, this has to be the worst. Imagine if the Trainers beat Ryu/Ken, but then Pokemon Trainer Red was taken out of the next match and replaced with Full Throttle. That's what this contest was.

Series should be here too if you're including Villains.

I've thought the Series contest wasn't recieved as negatively as the Villains contest and looking back it at least had a couple of close matches and a good final.

Villains was before my time, but I liked Rivals more than this one.

I do agree with all of the above. I like thinking outside the box and the general concept of this tourney, but the execution was lacking.

I remember Series being my least favorite, even below Rivals and Villains. I like the premise of Years a lot since I never thought about games in that way before. The actual contest itself was pretty boring, though, and is probably the worst one.

The execution of this one was terrible. Whole years reduced to groups of 8 games which also lead to glaring omissions and even then I think scrolling pictures was not the way to go. No consoles either.

It had the highest votal match of all time, but it's often forgotten because it's not Games or Characters.

Villains was actually pretty decent.

RR wasn't, but it was still was way better than this. At least there were some matches I got excited for there.

Well, nobody remembers that because the match wasn't that memorable. Zelda didn't win by that much, but FF never seriously threatened either.

Villains was fine.

Series and Rivalry Rumble were bad because there was no universally accepted definitions of what constitutes a contestant ("Chrono" is not a series, Sonic/Knux are rivals, etc.).

But even that at least had interesting moments. BYIG was both nebulous and boring.
