I dunno man, say all you want about demographics but Georgia 6th is Newt Gingrich's old seat. The last time a Democrat won there was 1976. Losing an old stronghold like that is a big deal.

I disagree

I think the Internet has allowed these people to regroup and start to organize and grow again.

Sure they aren't "in power," but they're getting closer to getting back there.

This is the major issue. It's people who are saying they should be allowed to speak their mind and not be punished for it who are empowering them to make these plays. It's not much different from the people who let Trump take over because "I mean it just can't happen in this day and age, right?"

Which is why it's so surprising that Chris of all people, loather of that very modern Democratic party mindset, is falling into the same trap.

It isn't so much a 'can't' as 'clearly is not.'

It's looking evident by the time the summer hits full swing that the Republican party is going to pounce upon Trump's corpse.

Yeah. About that. Who needs summer.

https://twitter.com/Nate_Cohn/status/866765929841078272
https://twitter.com/politicoalex/status/866727861834702849

These are EXTREMELY red districts. If Republicans lose EITHER of these, much less both, they are going to completely freak the fuck out.

That Montana election is Thursday, for reference. Georgia is June 20th (coincidentally the day before summer starts)

I fucking hate summer

So a concert in Manchester got bombed recently, resulting in deaths and injuries.

http://deadline.com/2017/05/ariana-grande-concert-explosions-confirmed-fatalities-manchester-england-1202100398/

I'm going to go ahead and guess that ISIS was responsible due to them being the current active terrorist group, therefore making it statistically likely.

My heart goes out to the victims of these radical religious extremists.

What is the point of these ISIS attacks, from a strategic perspective? I'm going to assume the dudes at the top have some brains beyond "yay we killed infidels!" or else they wouldn't have gotten as far as they have.

Is it really just trying to stir up anti-Muslim bigotry to make recruitment at home easier, as I've heard some say? Still seems like way too much effort

The goal is making all Muslims believe they are the enemy of everyone in the West. There are about 1.8 billion Muslims in the world. A caliphate that unites any significant fraction of that number would be a force to be reckoned with.

This is why it's important in the wake of a tragedy like this to remember that for every 1 shithead who carries out an attack like this, there are dozens, scores, hundreds of innocent Muslims who just want to live peaceful lives, go to work, and hang out with their families.

As I understand it, it establishes a precedent with which to argue against partisan gerrymandering, which means it offers the democrats a tool to fight it. We won't know until another case is brought up and resolves, but it's possible and that's much better than any previous options (which were basically 'lol, enjoy perma-red states').

So

Now Trump wants to sell off

https://www.bloomberg.com/politics/articles/2017-05-23/trump-proposes-selling-off-half-the-u-s-strategic-oil-reserve

The Strategic Oil Reserve.

For 500 Million.

Problems

Oil Prices have dropped. Particularly with this announcement.

We fucking need that Oil. It is an emergency fuel supply.

He apparently thinks the Strategic Oil Reserve is a magical renewing resource, since he says he'll raise 16 billion in a decade based on oil, and lists 10 billion theoretical. So apparently he thinks he can sell off half the reserve every year for the next 10 years.

Some of the above mentioned 10 billion theoretical include "Fuck Alaska, fuck wildlife refuge". And fuck payments to various states to compensate for fucking with their environments.

He wants to sell power lines. For 2.4 billion. Who the fuck is buying power lines, exactly, much less for that much.

We actually did this before. Seriously, we did. We sold the Strategic Helium Supply in the 90s, basically just driving down the price of Party balloons. And we are now coming to the realization that that was fucking dumb, because we could've used all that shit to make medicine and superconductors.

Given that there's no way in hell he came up on this on his own, this means that SOMEONE thinks that this is a good idea. And it sure as hell ain't republicans, because they love oil.

And, because the world is going crazy and obvious things are apparently no longer obvious

IT'S FUCKING DUMB

Also included in his budget is Student Loan Forgiveness being thrown out the window. So I guess he really hates government employees and government itself, which needs those employees.

Also Trump postponed deciding whether or not he'd honor the Obamacare CSRs for another three months (beyond the deadline for insurers proposing rates for next year), so if you get your insurance from the exchanges you can thank Donald Trump for personally raising your premiums by something like 20% (if you still have plans available at all)

I feel like there is a Trump Criticizing Trump tweet about not cutting medicaid, but I'm too lazy to find it.

Of course there is!

I'm starting to feel like Donald Trump is an "It's Always Sunny" opening that came to life and claimed a human as its host.

"YOU CAN'T STAY SILENT WHEN ACCUSED OF A CRIME!"
"That's insanity! Do you know how guilty you look?"
"What an idiot. Never, ever, and I mean ever, plead the fifth."

*music starts*

He apparently thinks the Strategic Oil Reserve is a magical renewing resource, since he says he'll raise 16 billion in a decade based on oil, and lists 10 billion theoretical. So apparently he thinks he can sell off half the reserve every year for the next 10 years.

Not to defend this move but $16.6 billion is based on about half the value of the oil reserve, so I think the plan is to sell off ~5% per year for a decade? Oil is a little over $50/barrel right now so $500 million = 10 million barrels, and the reserve is slightly under 700 million barrels.

Honestly this feels like a move that would benefit Trump personally somehow because I don't see how it benefits the US at all. Selling 10 million barrels a year is basically nothing, we imported more oil than that every DAY in 2016.

not to backpedal, but I live in Georgia's 6th and i will tell you that Ossoff has a damn good chance. Its pretty much 50/50 at this point, maybe slight favorite to Handel. People think Ossoff's only chance was to win in the run off a month ago, but he definitely has a shot still

"So many young beautiful innocent people living and enjoying their lives murdered by evil losers in life. I won't call them monsters because they would like that term. They would think that's a great name. I will call them from now on losers because that's what they are."

Trump, on Manchester.

"Evil Losers in Life"? Why does our president sound so much like a 5 year old?

So here's a theory on why!

This response is so on point:

Trump treated a state visit to Israel's Holocaust memorial like he's on a trip with his high school class.
