Like anytime I ask what normal people eat the people who are super proud of their diets come out and talk about how they had a quarter slice of radish dust on a cup of angel hair pasta and with a quarter glass of water with a pinch of lemon zest and then they act like that was a great fucking feast of a meal

What do relatively normal people eat such that they don't hate eating?

This is like the most pointless response ever.

This is what people do, but it isn't how they do it. People aren't that strong willed or smart, so how a relatively large amount of people can be healthy with relative ease is what stumps me.

Yeah "Eat carrots and drink water and exercise all day every day" is what a person can do. But like nobody does that because it's a miserable existence, so how is normalcy also not miserable?

I guess I already know the answer, because it's like me and going from drinking to not drinking. But still I don't get how not being fat can be so common when people overall aren't on average insanely strong willed.

Once you get accustomed to not eating crap by the bucketful, you're more easily sated. Also, a lot of the foods people eat actually make you want to eat more while others are more filling or curb your appetite. For example, a serving of rice, a serving of steamed veggies, and a baked chicken breast will satisfy me more than two pieces of pizza. Then you have to taken into account levels of activity, hydration, sleep, etc.

joe40001 posted...

Dude you could apply that to anything. We don't have all the janitors, fast food workers, garbage men, etc. because people do things that they love all the time.

Eating right doesn't at all have to be miserable like a lot of people think but it's also not that bad to eat simple, healthy foods. Overeating, eating for entertainment, eating out of boredom, etc. is the real miserable existence for most people.

They just eat small portions. Some people genuinely have smaller appetites. My mom is one of those people; a kid's meal from McDonald's is more than enough for a meal for her.

Not snacking is another strategy. Some people just have a naturally easier time of it. I personally always feel hungry and just have to fight it if I want to lose weight.

It legitimately takes discipline and hard work to not be overweight and unhealthy in today's world. That's why obesity is becoming increasingly common and why it's going to absolutely cripple the health care system.

If you want to get serious about losing weight, you need to go all out. Not just for a few weeks and then quitting after you don't get the results you want right away. You need to do it for the rest of your life.

2 pounds of veggies is about 600 calories. A banana is about 100 calories. That's 1000 calories and is starvation level. Don't speak out of your butt next time.

They also don't overdo it on the snacks and never drink soda.

It feels like whenever I try to better myself in the health world people come out of the woodwork with things that are like:
Half an apple for breakfast (Mix in a dollup of yogurt if it's my cheat day)
Gluten free tuna sandwich for lunch
Cooked veggies in a cup for dinner
And of course only water all day (though sometimes I cheat and put in a pinch of lemon juice)

And that is like what tends to come out when I ask for what people do, yet I know normal people and normal people don't seem like this is what they do. The above does sound utterly miserable though. Like it's not even a person trying to be happy, it is just a person eating things that vaguely remind them what it's like to eat food but not really.

Breakfast: 2 hard boiled eggs + coffee
Lunch: Tuna fish or salad with chicken (vinegar based dressing or no dressing)
Dinner: Grilled chicken or fish + 3 veggies + whole grain roll/bread OR whole grain pasta
Dessert/Snack: Fruit or granola or dark chocolate

Still seems pretty miserable.

Granola is your "big dessert"? How is that not tame and bland as fuck?

That's like saying "I'm so kinky, one time I even fantasized about TWO women"

It's the blandest most tame thing that could ever be considered "kinky" and granola is the blandes fucking thing that could ever be considered "dessert"

That's why it seems miserable. Do any of the foods you mentioned seem like they could be in the same sentence with the word "fun"?

People often accuse me of the opposite, of valuing exercise too little.

Tell me a "plant food" meal that could be described as fun or tasty or filling. My biggest problem is how I eat, switching what i eat isn't that bad so long as the new thing isn't miserable which (while I may focus on it too much) does come up as suggestions in health related topics.
