You can have one power, but you must choose: Teleport or Time Travel?

After some careful thought, I pick Teleport.

Time travel for sure...

Teleportation is awesome, but time travel will allow me to live a worry free life off the stock market.

That's ignoring the fact that I can visit any time period I want whenever I want which is awesome.

Fuck the consequences of the butterfly effect :P...

With teleportation, could I link up with someone else and do a tandem teleport? Like, say I wanted to go somewhere with my wife, like go get lunch in Paris on a Saturday afternoon, could I teleport her with me?

EDIT: And could I teleport objects with me, like say I wanted to take pics while we were in Paris, could my phone come with me?

Time travel easily. You can easily guide and manipulate society to eventually give you everything you need, down to shit like deaging, immortality and even teleportation. There's so much room to go back and forth and end up with insane things like galaxy scale empires for example.

After careful thought, Teleportation.

Time Travel itself isn't going to be that useful without a lot of hard work. It's not like you've got a Tardis. You can't move in space. So you're stuck in that spot. You're going to have to put a lot of work into time travel before it pays off. How are you going to invest in Apple stock when you don't have a car, ID, or money in the 1980s? You going to get a second job in the 80s? That sounds like fun.

On the other hand, we've seen just how useful teleportation can be thanks to that one movie. What's the name of that movie where Sam L Jackson is hunting down teleporters? Anyway, teleportation would effectively add years to your life since you're no longer wasting time traveling from point A to point B. So teleportation would effectively add years to your life and pay out cash. I'm zipping around the planet living the high life, meanwhile you're stuck working in a 1980s Burger King saving up for Apple stock.

I'd go back to like 2006 tell 24 year old me what stocks to buy, when to sell, etc. then current me has enough money to do what i want.

At the very least, you can jump to the short future to see the winning lotto numbers and then jump back to the present and win that.

The only way I'd even consider time travel would be on the condition that I never traveled farther back than my present. That's when things go bad. But I would have no problems jumping ahead to figure out a few Powerball numbers winning several hundred million dollars, then jumping ahead again and figuring out which stocks to invest that money in. It'd be fun getting rich.

I'm not sure it'd be more fun than teleporting though.

since you're no longer wasting time traveling from point A to point B.

You still have to be careful when doing stuff the legal way. I remember a comic where Flash and Green Lantern are traveling to Europe on vacation, and Hal asks Barry why are they taking the plane instead of ring-flying and water-running there. Barry says he needs to keep his two lives separate, to make sure no one notices an inconsistency. If I teleport to Europe, but then use one of my cards there, it may go unnoticed a few times, that I never bought a ticket, used my passport or went through customs, etc. But if I do it enough times, it's bound to attract someone's attention.

So, pay cash, stay at places that don't need a CC or ID, and never get in an accident. Or buy plane ticket, board, get in bathroom and teleport to destination, and enjoy a few extra hours.

This also reminds me of a Superman story where he was assigned a story near Smallville. He thought "Cool, I'll fly there, visit my parents and relax for four hours!". Then Perry White informs him that he's going too. Damn! The plane it is...

teleport. messing with time is not good i guess.

also, teleport to a bank storeroom, steal bits of money where people won't immediately notice unless it is being audited. go to a different bank in different currency every time in different places, always use cash

= infinite money.

And how are you going to do that exactly? Like you could time travel to Ancient Egypt, but then how are you going to get to Egypt? You're not moving in space. So you can probably only manipulate the society that's within 50 square miles of you. You're going to be calling up your teleporting friends and be like, "Hey Bro, can you teleport me over to Rome so I can go back in time and start manipulating society?"

Time travel nearly always comes with some relative space movement. Since it would almost always result in you ending up in the vacuum of space given Earth's tendency to revolve around the sun.

You have to think outside the box. There's endless possibilities.

You can just start with the natives. Create a powerful empire using technology from the future.

Shape history to evolve faster by exposing them earlier and earlier to future fruits of labor.

Eventually you'll have shit like nuclear powered jet packs or even teleportation to move around.

Keep doing this, eventually pushing society to come up with functional immortality or become a galactic civilization

Sure, you have to be organized in what you're doing and be careful not to get killed (easy with future tech). It won't be a walk in the park, but that's the fun of the challenge.

It's also the only way of living way past the usual 80 years even if you don't become immortal. High chance the farther future will have shit like advanced deaging and cell rejuvenation to prolong life.

You may teleport objects and yourself. You may teleport people but with limits, like no more than four times your weight, give or take. You can teleport objects without weight restrictions and with no more than said people limit vs weight.
