Good golly SyFy looks ridiculous

Anyway, The Expanse is a pretty good show and I have enjoyed it. It looks great, they've taken time to try and make space combat more realistic, and the characters are interesting. If you like Sci-Fi stuff set in future space you might really like it too. The second season finished not too long ago and the series has been confirmed for a third season.

I'm not totally finished season 2 yet but excited to do so and think I'll be reading the books while I wait for that sweet season 3 action.

I've watched the first few episodes. I like the setting but I'm not sure if it has really grabbed me yet.

I agree that SyFy is a terrible title for the channel. Never understood why they did that.

I know I've watched it, but I can't remember if I finished the first season or not. Was that the one where the asteroid workers had really long limbs?

I suggest giving it some more time. It'll pull you in. Some of the later characters are more interesting and the story really opens up and gets bigger.

I have not, but I really want to. I read the first three books and enjoyed them, I have the fourth but haven't gotten around to it yet.

I think they did it to follow some 4 letter channel call name format but not sure

You should keep going! It starts getting really intriguing about midway through season 1 and all of season 2 has been pretty interesting.

No, I don't think it has anything to do with character limits or standard formats. MSNBC is still MSNBC, and both stations are owned by NBC Universal.

Additionally, the Nielson list shows that SyFy still uses a call name that resembles its old name more:
Client Call Ltr - - - Service Name - - - Distributor Short Name
SCFE - - - SYFY EAST - - - SYFY East
SCFW - - - SYFY WEST - - - SYFY West
SFHD - - - SYFY HD - - - SYFY HD

They still have a 'C' in the standard def station call name!

It was obviously just some new brand manager that thought they needed to revamp the channel's image; let people know they still have science fiction, but that's not all they do.

Also when I got mad Stargate SG-1 got cancelled and wrestling was on Friday night instead, they can say, "We aren't the Science Fiction channel, we can show other programming!"

I'm still bitter.

Pretty sure my girlfriend watched that show for a while. It didn't seem that great to me, but I will say SyFy seems like it's gotten a little better than it used to be. She also watched Dark Matter and that one was actually pretty decent.

Incorporated was another really good one. I'm not sure how it didn't get a second season though. It was better than most of the other shows that they decided to keep. Maybe it just wasn't cheesy enough.

Might check out Dark Matter

The Expanse is like... the most visually awesome science fiction series I've seen. It's pretty good overall. The characters are interesting, the story and science are believable, and it has enough mystery to be compelling.

I almost missed the Adam Savage cameo. That was a neat little thing.
