Yusuke and Ann are there for 80-100 and don't get much either though. Makoto barely more, Ryuji decently more, and Morgana a lot. I dunno, I just don't think it's so balanced that it merits everyone mentioning it.

I do actually agree with pyre that it's lame that Makoto's awakening is caused by Kaneshiro, instead of Sae or Kobayaka (who I totally thought was gonna be the 3rd baddie). I get why it had to be Kaneshiro, but it was a little forced. Then again, 90% of the events in this game had to be forced into the very specific formula of Persona, so that's to be expected. They built it all up very well, considering all that.

I was disappointed that Kaneshiro didn't get revealed to be the one that killed Makoto's father. That would have been a huge payoff for his palace IMO.

Third Palace Spoilers

I rather liked the fact that Kaneshiro was someone more or less unconnected to Makoto. It mixed up the formula a bit so it wasn't always just an adult that your next party member knew personally. Granted, it also showed some dev bias that Makoto is the one that essentially get the storyline spotlight all by herself and Kaneshiro is merely a plot device in a Monster-of-the-Week fashion.

Plus, Kaneshiro's Palace being where Makoto's Persona awakens throws you off the scent of anyone else connected to her being a target, making the moment where Sae reveals her calling card much more of a "Whoa!" event.

I like Makoto's Awakening more because they built to it throughout End of 1st Palace onward. She gets tons of focus around 3rd Palace, but she remains defacto main character status bit by bit, continuing a logical build towards way more shit that never stops. In the next Palace, Futaba has to be introduced, but good God, do they milk it for insanity in that ten-day post period. I was like, "I get it. Futaba is important. Her character style is unique. Can we move on?"

It's like they tried so hard at trying so hard, and still managed to succeed at not sucking the life out of trying so hard, but just barely. If anyone's played Star Ocean 3, it's like Maria showing up at Disc 2 and it becoming her game for about 5-10 hours for some reason.

Man doing palaces in 1 day got a lot easier now that Triple Down from Valkyrie with Attack Master and Snipe is ending nearly every battle in 1 turn...

I feelike it's becoming apparent they balanced the endgame around Hard mode.

I definitely like the balance of Normal a lot. It's not so dirt easy that it's mindless and upgrading personas and strategy is pointless, but you never have to actually put any significant time and effort into winning. It's kept me interested in the combat 60 hours deep already, hopefully it lasts until the end.

So my PS4 controller started dying just now. The plug in was having trouble, and I accidentally broke off an end inside the controller port. I threw the controller in the trash, only to dig it back out after finding some tweezers to pull out the broken USB end. I plowed through some old electronics junk, since I've saved nearly every USB charger for some reason (old computers, adapters, etc). I can't believe I found one that not only fits, but charges the damn thing!

This is the second time Persona has had me hooked enough to do this type of shit. When I first played P3, a controller broke. It was later in the day, so no buses were around. I walked half an hour to a Blockbuster to find a controller (cause it was closer than a Walmart or Target). Just to keep playing P3.

This series I swear.

Welp, Strength level 10 kind of breaks the game doesn't it?

(Spoilers for what the final Strength Confidant perk is) Well, I'm currently level 53, but I have a level 74 Siegfried that has Charge+Vorpal Blade and Auto-Matarukaja, Rakukaja, and Sukukaja. I feel sorry for the upcoming boss of palace 6 right now. Unless it's immune to physical in which case fml. (And also this is after only having just unlocked the ability. I can only imagine it's going to get worse once I get access to more money again)

Up to Palace 7. Definitive Palace ranking so far...

7 > 6 > 5 = 3 > 2 > 4 > 1

Game beated. Will probably go for NG+ soon (probably should have saved up more money since apparently you don't carry level or held personas but apparently there is a way to get infinite money early on?)

Missed Empress and Devil confidant completion. Ah well there gift perks seemed to suck compared to everyone else so I can get em on the perfect run

So anyway (STORY / CONFIDANT SPOILERS)

The final battle was pretty cool but it didn't seem to have that extra "personal oomph" P4 and P3 had y'know? Like your party calling out to you or taking the death hits for you before the end. The Gainax poll meter power up was good though. I was also sliiiightly hoping Akechi would show up in the Velvet Room in some capacity too...

Would have to listen to the final boss them again but I don't think it stacks against Battle for Everyone's Souls and Genesis

Then again the way you take down the final boss was pretty fucking cool. Still I was kind of holding out for a more "hidden" TRUE ending akin to P4 but ah well.

Unsure how to feel about the ending in comparison to P4...although I thought it was kind of fun that the gang just shows up and goes "Yeah fuck that shit. Get in nerd, we're going for a ride!". Hopefully Joker gets to come back soon and permanently stay with coffee dad someday!

QUICK (PROBABLY INACCURATE) CONFIDANT RANK GLANCE [Story Spoilers]

Temperance: Kawakami is precious and her whole confidant story was fucking great. From the way you first run into this confidant path you know you are in for a fun ride. It is also pretty heavy with how you watch out for her when she is sick, tell those guardians to fuck off, etc. I also enjoy her comments and attitude throughout the whole thing. It also helps that the perks she provide from her confidant path are awesome. Only downside is she can't keep her standard hairstyle when she's a maid since she looks way sexier with that to me.

Sun: So people said this guy was going to be top tier and they weren't lying. The dude is just a fucking bro. His story was pretty interesting with how he had once been an asshole politician in the past caught up in all these scandals (true or not) and just genuinely wants to make things better. You both are trying to reform society (albeit in different ways at the moment...who knows maybe Joker could become a politician one day) and the interactions he has with his former associates while still sticking to his guns (with you by his side) is great. I also thought it was cool that he just flat out knows you are a Phantom Thief without any intervention on your part. He still loses out to Kawakami by a little but hey, here's hoping he wins next election!

Hermit: What can I say, I love that crazy girl and she seemed to have the biggest character change out of everyone. Her events ranged from cute (sweet headpats) to hilarious (calling Mishima an NPC...poor Mishima) and I just liked hanging out with her. Her attachment to you is also precious.

Hierophant: I love coffee dad. Extra points for the Catherine reference

Death: Punk Doc was great in general

Emperor: Yusuke and Futaba's confidant stories were the most interesting of the party confidant paths. Also Yusuke's mannerisms in general are fun (especially during his confidant path)

PLOT TIER: Fool, Magician, Justice, Judgement (can choose to count these or not)

Hanged Man: Enjoyed the Yakuza story with a guy just wanting to keep his foster son out of all that shit. You should be grateful!

Fortune: Path to getting her confidant was amusing (Oh I am just a little salty...) and she is pretty sweet. Also her confidant ability is top tier along with Kawakami

Priestess: I wasn't too crazy about the story with the bitch girl but I liked Makoto herself during it. Its also fun just being a smartass around her and has to be the canon responses Joker has. Beep Boop!

Star: Its alright. Hifumi herself is cool so I guess its kind of interchangeable with Priestess (for Star I liked the "story" more but I enjoy Makoto herself during her own story way more)

Chariot: It was fine. Priestess Star and Chariot are kind of in a clump I guess.

Moon: Mishima is annoying to really set down for me. Like I feel a confusing mixture of pity, annoyance, hatred, yet also kind of liking him all at the same time. Mishima is the punching bag of the cast and he acts like a bitch most of the time he shows up. However at the tail end of his confidant path he finds courage and steps up (even that has that bit of him elaborating on pissing himself...but heyyy ya did...good...). It may be cheating but the story events kind of moves him up a little for me. Despite all that shit, he was the first person to get the crowd going during the literal fucking APOCALYPSE and get momentum going for the "Spiral Power" boost. So...yeah. Go Mishima?

Tower: I always seem to dislike or hate the Tower guys (well just going by P4. Saki's bro was kind of a bitch...oh wait that was Hanged Man. Oops! Still I recall disliking P4 Tower). You basically have to take his side when he is clearly being a little punk to score more points with him which I found annoying. Still he kind of got a little better towards the tail end. Get Smoked.

Lovers: Boring (I tend to find Lovers social link boring)

Strength: Boring (well I guess not totally since trolling Justine and Caroline was kind of fun) while also requiring a shit ton more effort. Don't know if it really counts`


Didn't finish Devil or Empress but from what I could tell Devil would be around mid and Empress low with Lovers

I think my biggest mistakes were using Fortune boosts on Sun at some point (didn't know he auto levels like Moon) and getting my social stats to 5

that and some days where certain confidants just don't show

I don't know. Band girl was bad. I mean, part of it was her unappealing appearance, part of it was mousy girl "gotta be strong and nice and cute cause you're her senpai, and she's vulnerable, and BLARGH," and the biggest problem was having to choose her over Drama Club.

Anyone choosing Ayane over Yumi has really weird tastes in weirdness. It's not like Yumi was best ever or anything. Just, Ayane...bleeegggh. They picked her for the anime. It was so dumb.

I assumed they focused less on school because they actually wanted all the non-playable confidants to be useful (which was an excellent idea). Most clubs aren't going to be practical for thieving and Ryuji sort of covers the athletic aspect in his.

The older women were a nice perk though.

Unless I'm forgetting something I don't think you even use ANY of the 3 practice building floors or whatever it's called. That whole area is just empty space aside from the pathetic NPC who pretends he's a Phantom Thief being an amusing nobody to talk to

They probably made the school in its entirety (instead of randomly gating off / cutting off areas) just to keep the setting feeling realistic. I'm okay with having an empty school if it means we get links elsewhere.

speaking of which just for fun I will try to compare the arcana social links (most likely going to be somewhat off since I haven't watched / gone through the P4 arcana in awhile and going mainly by memory)
