okay well I'm watching now time to summarize

Starts with like a flash back scene of little boy bored at summer playing around on the floor, dad takes him out to buy him a game, gets Final Fantasy III (famicom). Kid's into it and dad's just at the kitchen table with the mom all "oh is it alright? you used to say that stuff's no good...", dad "ever now and then I guess" reading newspaper.

Dad looks back and sees boy losing at a boss fight and his face is like O_O hmmmmmmm

night comes and Dad's playing the game, boy comes down seeing this all "... dad?", which he responds "... this is quite interesting after all huh", and boy sits down and helps instruct him

bahahah oh god now at a crystal and the FF theme plays, becoming a warrior of light and in game and dad's all hype oh man hikari no senshi?!

Theme song to the show plays... it seems in-show has a different title translation. Not Dad of Light, but "Daddy of Light". Also clearly time skip happens, FFXIV after all, at least through the OP it looks like dad plays XIV with son these days.



yessss first scene boy talks about being an adult as he plays XIV, and his character? Female Miq'ote awyeah best choice. After he types whatever message to some Aru-chan, cuts to a voice acted clip of his character saying what he typed (Aru-chan, thanks for today!), and does this clearly in-game acted scene with these questing pals, then cutting out to boy playing it.

sadly it seems dad hasn't kept up to this point, seems a bit astranged and boy says doesn't even know the last time they talked as pops heads out to work :(

Next scene Boy's at work, mom calls, something's happened with dad? Cut back to dinner at home, dad's... retiring? He's 60 and boy doesn't really understand, off to XIV he goes. As he chats with XIV pals he thinks back to young days again, him enjoying talking to his dad about FF3 progress but dad got a promotion so was too tired for that stuff anymore. Cue sad music :(

This cut back to present time and his character telling the story to his friend has me dying. Miq'ote girl saying "I was shocked, I didn't understand it but from then on me and dad....."... then camera cuts to each of the other characters he's talking to, listening to his story... and a Lalafell girl says "hey but now that he's retired can't you play together again?" and they all push for him to talk to dad about it.

*some deep talk scene between boy and... uh, his boss at work I think, I don't really follow but whatever they talk about boy's dad some more"

cut back home, Boy bought a PS4! Mom immediately "whaaaat". Dad's handling the controller on the couch as boy explains his feelings, and pulls out copy of XIV! Dad picks up the case, "Oh, Final Fantazy eh?" and boy immediately lights up that he remembers, "Right, Final Fantasy!"

(quickly to explain, I didn't mention earlier but in the flashbacks dad would call FF "Final Fantasu" and boy would OCD correct him each time "FInal Fantasy!")

Boy gets all serious.. like, it'd mean a lot to me if you'd try it. Gets to explaining yada yada he'll be able to advise, if it's too complicated it's fine he can stop right away. Also mom is just sittin' at the table reading through the game manual with her reading glasses heh.

Dad agrees! Starts making character. Or rather, boy sets up character with dad's input. Explains how it's a multiplayer game and people have their own characters to play who they want... dad: "sou na... nanka hazukashii" <3. Boy all noooooooo it's not too embarrassing!... He says while shyly looking off to the side.

Son: So, what should I put for name?
Dad: Inoue.
Son: ... Eh? Who's that...
Dad: He is. No good?
Son: It's fine... but so standard... wouldn't it be better to name him after a main character of a movie? It's a fantasy world after all...
Dad: In that case...

By slides out of the room and as soon as he shuts the door runs upstairs to join yassss I know this feeling

all these cuts to boy's character playing with his dad now oh man, or I think these aren't real but scenarios he's dreaming up.... WAIT WHAT YOU CAN HAVE OTHER PEOPLE RIDING ON A CHOCOBO WITH YOU?! Anyhow he's saying how his dad will surely understand all this!

Friend brings up a point: ... Is this really gonna be alright? Game's long, will he keep it up long??
Son: That's while I'll need everyone's cooperation!
Lalafell: Leave it to us, Eorzea's our world after all~

*door knock sound, cuts to boy looking to door*

Dad asks if he can come in... boy turns of his monitor first?! he doesn't want dad to know?!

anyways dad's just worried if he'll be able to handle these noob forests. don't worry don't worry they're weak af~

Back to game.... Boy and his friends are stalking his dad. Boy's character is Maidi, Lalafell friend goes off to stalk as Maidi is chillin' out excited with the success.

NOTIFICATION SOUND, CHAT MESSAGE...

"Your dad's in a big pinch!"

Dramatic battle music plays as friend's character leads Maidi to his dad fighting a treant. EH?! TREANT, THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE FOR HIM IT'S TOO HIGH LEVEL. AT THESE RATE DAD'LL END UP DEAD!

*childhood flashbacks of sweet dad memories*

oh god changes to pugialist and rushes up to pound it to death. Dad chara then just... standing there looking at Maidi

Boy in his head: "It's me, dad... just like in the old days, together in the Final Fantasy world..."

... boy's character goes up to talk to him, "are you alright?" omg

Dad walks up to him. Stares.... Starts running around him a while then runs away omfgggg

"EH?!"

Now cut to boy and dad chatting at the table.

Dad: I was about to die, but then some stranger came and saved me... phew thank god. I'm not sure what I should do...

son gives him a keyboard

Dad: With this I can talk to everyone??

Son asks if dad would like him to set it up...

Dad: Yes please~ That game... I'm enjoying it quite well

biggest son smile, in that case I'm glad~ *monologues over success*

I hope to god someone's subbing this show so I can make my dad watch it. He... actually retires in June so this is highly relevant to my life. My dad would play games with us growing up too~

ooookay done with today stuff so back to ep 2!

Starting with flashback, dad's watching TV and boy's trying to build courage to ask dad to play with him..... but dad's actually sleeping after the day's work. Damn this show really makes me think about my dad, I miss being with himmm T_T Boy instead just goes out playing alone, throwing a ball against the wall and noticing a father-son duo playing catch nearby =/... BUT NOW HIS DREAM HAS ARRIVED, HE CAN PLAY WITH DAD... KONO FINAL FANTASY NO SEKAI DE

Back in the game now... he really is just stalking his dad through his Maidy character, hiding behind posts and all. Watching. Smiling. But then realizes how weird it is and is questioning if he can friend his dad. Hikari no Otousan Keiku!

OP again... god WHY ARE THE DAD/SON CHARACTER SCENES IN THE OP SO ROMANTIC?! IS BOY GONNA CATFISH HIS DADDY OF LIGHT?!

Back, boy's work scene zzz. Something something senior talking to boy about women at work quitting and counting on Boy to find out why. Boy now talking to another colleague about it, points out one young woman, Shouta, who joined this year. Something something she's beautiful and guy employees keep bothering her WHATEVER GET TO DADDY OF LIGHT ALREADY. Im assuming it'll turn out she plays XIV too but whatever.

BACK HOME WITH INDY JONES FIGHTING FUNGUS. Dad's an Archer, eh? Alright. Boy still stalking from behind a tree ohdear. YES MAIDY GOES UP TO HIM, "KONNICHIWA!" *bow*

Dad: *stares* *back forward*. A-A.
Dad: A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A *runs away*

*door knocks*

Boy tries to turn off monitor, it won't shut down. He's also wiping his nose with tissue. Tells dad hold on hold on but dad opens door to see Boy scrambling to cover his screen...

Dad: "... tissues?... OH UH I'M SORRY"
Boy: "Nooooo that's not itttt. Uh. What's up?"
Dad: "... err uh it's nothing... it was like 'aaaaa'...." *backs out closing door*

Boy follows, dad points out the keyboard is stuck typing 'a' repeatedly. Keyboard's old, boy's gonna buy him a new one yada yada... in the meantime, boy shows him about emotes he can use with the gamepad controls. *Dad loops big laughter emote... for a while*

Back at work boy tries to speak up to Shouta who's cleaning a a bowl. Walks up, girl turns, boy looks away.

Girl: "Do you have something to say?"

I don't really follow convo too well, something about boy being concerned about her maybe quitting too and asking what's up blah blah doesn't wanna speak to somebody.

Back home again and falls onto keyboard so Maidy sighs, Lalafel pals ask what's wrong and boy just aaaaa I'm fine let's find Indy! But... he's not online!! Goes downstairs, dad's watching tv and boy's all questioning why not on, what's his motivation for even playing anyways. Mom calls all up for coffee.

Boy: So dad, you haven't played the game today?
Dad: Ah Final Fantasy... I've stopped I guess.
Boy: O_O *fake smiles*... "w-...why?"

Just following along quests... he has ended up in some snowy country... only level 7. Boy still doesn't understand tho why quit

Dad: Well, since it's winter... everyone's wearing warm clothes and coats...
*mom butts in*: Dad's embarrassed, isn't he? With just his short sleeves~
Boy: No wayyy
*dad looks around nervous*
Boy: ... O_O
Dad: I'MMA GO TAKE A WALK

*maidy beatin' up dummies in front of pals*
Maidy: No wayyy, there's people that quit for reasons like that?!
annnd now Indy's got clothes so all's good wheee

Back at work, boy sits down with girl with renewed understanding for some reason... oh god he understands people having weird reasons for things now. Ooookayyy. Anyways girl opens up to him annnd the next day the Women Quitting Crisis is averted! Snacks are now given out at work and they ladies get pink uniforms now and are all happy. Wat.

Maidy's back home talking to friends about it when a Lalafell calls out, something's up concerning Indy!... he's fighting a Treant Sappling again. Maidy wrecks the treant again and Indy comes up...

Maidy: "Are you alright?"
*dramatic music and romantic camera cuts*
*the two standing there staring at each other, scene timelapses over night/day passing*
Indy: *kneels*

... Success! dad has communicated! *childhood flashback occurs of Dad/Boy playing catch, dad asks if Boy is alright... then kneels down to tie his shoes*

Maidy: "Um, if it's alright... will you be my friend?" *offers hand*

*door knocks*... still concerned about "intruding", but dad tells about friend request, asks if it's alright, son says yeah after friending their name will turn orange.

Boy: "If you have any trouble you can go to them, because they're your friend!"

*dad all proud he made a friend in game world*

Back to the livingroom, Mom goes up to bed and dad's back to his game... seems to have some stomach pain but gets to accepting the friend request and smiles.

annnnnd now that I've caught up I can slick back to the shadows, if this topic is kept alive to thursday I might continue buuut if not my job's done here!
