tea is really variable

regular teabag tea is like 2/10. sweet iced tea 6/10. there's this place downtown that makes specialty teas like red velvet tea, carolina honey tea, matcha vanilla bubble tea, etc. and that's 8/10ish

There has been an occasional tea I have been less than thrilled with, or outright not liked, but the joy I get from the rest more than compensate.

There really is a staggering amount of variety in flavor one can get from the tea leaf depending on where it is grown/how it is grown/when it is harvested/how long it is oxidized and all of that is just on the production end. For the drinker, there are considerations like soft/hard water, water temperature, amount of tea used, length of steeping, and so on. All this before the question of non-tea flavors is asked. Put those into the mix, and you've got pretty much an infinite amount of flavor combinations.

I've never cared about it. Of all the types I've had (admittedly not much), it's generally ranged from "i guess this has a flavor?" to "this is okay". I don't think I've ever had tea that's made me think "wow this is great".
