Why Spyro isn't idolized up there with Banjo I don't know. Because it's not as good. jamieyello3 posted... Spyro was way better than Crash or Banjo Kazooie. It looked better and felt more polished than SM64 (though at the time it SM64 did seem better). I'm not sure to which polish you refer, but neither the look or function seemed nearly as good as SM64. GameReviews posted... FinalFantasyIV posted...Playstation easily. Okay, limit yourself to 10 picks for the SNES and see everything you're cutting. And, in the case of the N64, even that would be hard to stop at just 10 great games. Granted, there's also the irony of that accusation being leveled against the N64 when the ps1 was much bigger into shovelware because Sony did nothing to protect the quality of content on the console. Part of the reason why it had a massive library was a complete lack of a filter. --- (\/)(\/)|-| In Zeus We Trust: All Others Pay Cash ... Copied to Clipboard!

Because it's not as good. Banjo controls terribly. I tried playing it, it's about on par with DK 64. The new Rare game is just as good as the old ones, it just shows how bad the games are without nostalgia glasses. I've never complained about a camera in my life. BK's camera is literal cancer. There has never been a game that controlled like Spyro since it came out, not a single one. That's made it age pretty well. Playstation was an opening and a response to Nintendo making horrible decisions with the N64. I'd rate the 64 as one of the worst systems ever. Their mistakes cost them so many devs who switched over. As an avid NES and SNES fan who was brand loyal and never had a Genesis...even I couldn't defend the N64.
I can count the games I liked on that system with one hand, and no, none of them are Zelda. Meanwhile the Playstation was a haven for developers looking to escape Nintendo's myopic arrogance. The N64 was the beginning of Nintendo's downfall and the Playstation was Sony's rise. I'd say PS1 for me personally. I can't think of a N64 game I'd want to play today, I still play PS1 games today. For me, there were only 2 N64 games that I hold in high regard still, Goldeneye and Perfect Dark. N64 was still a good system, but for me it marked the start of the fall of Nintendo.
Some of my issues with N64 come from my love of the SNES. That was a hard act to follow. --- 21B64R09E14A35K92T29H45E17W43A82L95L19S57D36O18W39N8Y2J (V)0-0(V) This is Mudcrab. Copy and paste him into your signature to help him achieve world Domination. ... Copied to Clipboard!

It depends on what type of games you play and what you want out of the system.
Playstation had multi-disc games with a lot of storage, a much larger library, better audio, FMV and prerendered backdrops. Nintendo 64 did 3D better, had better in-game graphics, no load times and 4-Player games. Yes I know PS1 had that adapter for extra controllers but I'm pretty sure the list of games supporting it was short. Majora's Mask could never happen on PS1. FF9 could never happen on Nintendo 64. I see no point in arguing which is better. I had a blast with both. ... Copied to Clipboard!

PS1.
The genres I prefer benefit a lot from CD audio. Moreover, Nintendo's licensing policies alongside the cost of cartridges and their relative lack of storage space drove 3rd Party developers away. I'm not a really into 3D platformers (though I can appreciate Miyamoto's as artistic and aesthetic masterpieces), but I love JRPGs and 2D platformers and am a fan of Square, Enix, Konami, and Falcom, so the N64 suffers greatly compared with both the SNES and the PS1. The lack of Metroid and Mother games is inexcusable, as is going from DKC to DK64 It did see the genesis of the Paper Mario and Mario Party franchises, so that's pretty awesome. Playstation by a mile.
3D games aged worse than N64's for obvious reasons but there's enough worthwhile 2D games to put it over the N64 pretty damn easily. There's also the part where I can't really get into any of the N64 "classics". I grew up with a SNES and as I go back and collect supposedly "classic" games for the N64 I don't enjoy any of them all that much. Mario 64 is okay but the level design gets worse as you get further into the game and the fun factor is nothing compared to the 2D games. And any game that managed to be half decent is still dragged down by the awful controller. Fighting games are one of my favorite genres. N64 has barely any worth playing. I like RPGs a lot. N64 also has maybe one or two actually worth playing whereas the PS1 is easily the greatest system of all time when it comes to RPGs even if you only take Squaresoft's output into consideration. Hell I'd take Harvest Moon Back To Nature over any game in the N64 library. And Metal Gear Solid is easily just as impressive as Zelda. --- All will be as the lilim direct it. ...
