BEIJING -- There can be no winners in a war between the U.S. and North Korea over Pyongyang's nuclear weapons and missile programs, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Friday, while pledging support for dialogue between the sides.
Wang's comments mark the latest attempt to cool tensions by North Korea's most important ally and key provider of food and fuel aid. Any fighting on the Korean Peninsula is likely to draw in China, which has repeatedly expressed concerns about a wave of refugees and the possible presence of U.S. and South Korean troops on its border.
"Once a war really happens, the result will be nothing but multiple loss. No one can become a winner," Wang told reporters at a news conference with French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault.

At the same time, I agree that tempers need to cool down right now. We don't need NK getting overzealous and bombing the fuck out of anything around its launch radius. People want to just nuke the place, but that ignores the innocents who live there. Other people are worried that NK can launch nukes at the US, but honestly if they get crazy and nuke anywhere they're irredeemable. It's a frustrating situation, it has been for decades.

I would agree is so much of our economy didn't depend on them and that they didn't have a top 3 most powerful military in the world. I am very anti war, but would be cool with invading N Korea cause it is much more simple and there are more constitutional reasons to attack them, but you can't ignore allies and people you might upset.

If they really cared about regional stability they'd stop claiming basically the entire south and east china sea, especially since both UN guidelines AND a trans-pacific tribunal ruled they have no legal claim over the vast majority of it.

They would have no possible way of dealing with North Korea's entire population suddenly being their responsibility.

They would have no possible way of dealing with North Korea's entire population suddenly being their responsibility.

South Korea cannot possibly handle the cost of reunified Korea in the short term that includes maintaining and rebuilding the entire North's infrastructure, conducting census, providing health care and education system, etc. Especially if the reunification comes through force, South Korea would be war-torn and in poor economic shape.

In the long term of course, they would enjoy the benefit. But let's put it this way, we took down Saddam Hussein in months in 2003, Iraq is still rebuilding now and would be regardless of ISIS.

If NK surrendered then we should just give it to SK. They don't hold any hostility to the people in NK. They are taught that the people in NK are basically prisoners and are constantly bombarded by propaganda.
