i have no idea. i bought the ff14 complete bundle on ps4 because it worked out to be the price of a one month subscription. i loaded it up and the thought of relearning my character on a controller terrified me so much i immediately closed the application

Unless they changed it, trophies don't pop in the trial, and nothing you do counts towards trophy progress until you have the full game. That's how it was with the 14-day when I played last year.

Pretty much everything is stored on the Square Enix servers, so when you upgrade your account and continue your adventure everything you did will still be there. Completed quest, dungeons, Leves etc. You just have to do everything 1 extra time for trophies to unlock.

I didn't think this seemed like it was the case, but I dunno. the trophies in the game are pretty dumb though, so maybe I wasn't looking at the counters. it's basically 25 versions of "do thing 1 time for a bronze, do thing 1000 times for silver".

This has already been discussed at length on these forums, but since you asked again here you go:

As long as you are using the same account and same character on both platforms progress towards trophies carries over and trophies can be unlocked retroactively. This even includes legacy players from 1.0.

Heavensward was an improvement in a lot of ways but it also seriously squandered the cool groundwork that the post-ARR additions established for the story. I don't know where they went with the post-HW stuff but hopefully with Stormblood they can refrain from setting up big story events and then immediately walking back from them

Level 35 looks to be up to the Titan Normal fight, which is not a bad place for the trial to end. Especially since right after is a huge face-turn in the story. It's actually a really cleaver spot to end it on Square Enix's behalf, since it could get people to sub just to see what happens in the story.

....Well given that they wouldn't just go looking it up online.

I should really get back into the game now that the Heavensward story seems to have ended.

FF14 works as well with a controller as a keyboard so if you can get past the muscle memory you'll be good

I'm very interested in trying it now... The thing that kept me from the 14 day trial was time limit. I would have had to plan everything around the trial so I could get the most out of it.

Agree with this. But Stormblood appears to be picking up on the major remaining dropped hooks, so it might work out.

With Stormblood coming out, it's a good time to get into the game. Heavensward will be included with Stormblood when that releases, so you can wait until then to catch up on the story too if you want.

This is why I was so excited to learn that by the time I got to XI you could just summon a party of NPCs to accompany you and not have to worry about someone skipping the story for you.

In 14 you can view all the in-game cutscenes at an inn.

Most of 14's story is single player, too. Every few levels, you will go do a dungeon or boss fight with a party of players through matchmaking, but the actual questing you do by yourself. Only two of those dungeons have a bunch of major cutscenes in them, and they immediately realized what a mistake that was and never did it again.
