Bernie would have won, fairly easily. Republicans will win in 2018 barring a major shift in the Democratic Party, involving the showing of genuine contrition and introspection, demonstrated by the replacement of the party leaders who have led us to unified Republican government.

The Democrats talk a lot about equality, but it's very hard to become a Democratic politician. You need a lot of credentials, and it's very hard indeed if you are not a minority or rich. And whoever you are, you need to hew the party line when talking about any number of an ever-increasing number of issues seen as fundamental.

On the other hand, anyone can become a Republican politician. You don't need any qualifications. And you can say whatever you please. Of course you will be judged by your votes in Congress, but only your voters will punish you and no one else.

i love bernie's message and stances, but i'm skeptical that he would've won. it could've gone either way

on one hand, he may have done better in those crucial rust belt states. he may have co-opted trump's 'f*** the system' vote. his message is almost perfectly tailored for that demographic

on the other hand, all of the confirmed red voters i know view him as a crackpot socialist. so do some of the blue voters

all i can confirm is that if he had made it past the primaries we would've gotten to see trump do his best bernie impersonation

I'm gonna be blunt.

For the past many months, I haven't really lost any respect for Trump, because he hadn't earned any to begin with, especially with his jackass campaign strategy. All he was doing was proving my worries about him right, and that my current negative attitude towards him was justified.

This? This plunged it right down. Now I actively hate him.

Poor guy, he was trying to do what he thought was right and he was betrayed so callously. And he lost so much trying to do it. So many in his shoes would've done the same thing.

Backstory time

Once, awhile, someone told an obviously apocryphal story about how trans people in a "down with cis" bus pulled up next to him, climbed out, and beat up his friend for being cis.

It was hilariously fake and started the whole "down with cis" trend as a reference to that apocryphal story.

...Now we have, a bus that is, for all practical purposes, "Down with Trans".

Except it's real and not an apocryphal story. And hopefully, it won't involve a bunch of cis people climbing out and physically attacking anyone they think is trans. Of course, they're defending themselves with "Free Speech", which seems to be a favorite of people who only care about their right to say offensive things while denying their ideological opponents their own right to say things that are offensive to them.

I'm pretty sure my 4 year old daughters know more about technology than most politicians. And they haven't even started pre-school yet.

That said, I doubt them knowing more about it would mean that they'd be less likely to listen to lobbyists than they are now.

The idea that the important thing to do here is to pass something, regardless of whether it's better or worse than Obamacare, just to deliver on a campaign promise is, frankly, disgusting. They're playing with peoples' lives.

(I'm sure some of them actually think the bill would be an improvement, but that's clearly not what's driving people like Trump who obviously doesn't care what's in the bill as long as it passes).
