...It's just....you know, if people wanna do the Brony thing, that's fine. I have friends who are Bronies, they know I dislike it and don't bother me with it, and they go out of their way to invite me to hang out when they know their Brony friends aren't around most of the time, which I'm thankful for.

But the fact that so many of them think that this children's show (and it IS a children's show, don't get me started. It's OK to like children's shows, I love plenty of children's shows, doesn't mean they aren't children's shows) is worth a f***ing....$350,000 DOCUMENTARY BUDGET....all that money WASTED on something so unimportant....it actually sickens me. This sickens me more than anything else related to these people. Bronies don't need this documentary, they know all this stuff, and anyone else who watches it and isn't a brony is juts going to be disturbed by it. There's no real necessary target audience.

I mostly respect Faust. I've enjoyed some of her work, PPG was good and Super Best Friends Forever is great, but I can't respect her for encouraging this sort of behavior (which she DOES do). It's upsetting.

The thing that gets me about the MLP fanbase is not just how obsessed they are, but how many of them are obsessed. Maybe I'm just ignorant, but I've never seen so much of a fanbase be the crazy nutjob obsessed fans. Usually, those are just one or two people.

OK, I guess by mentioning it's a children's show I may have not expressed the issue here properly.

ANYONE with this level of obsession towards ANYTHING has some serious issues. It being a children's show has little to nothing to do with it. People obsessed with, say, Batman, or football even, to the degree that these people are obsessed with MLP would be equally upsetting. But MLP in particular has created a group of individuals with a level of obsession almost unheard of compared to everything else, and it's truly disturbing. It's essentially a cult.

I think the thing that sort of angers people about Bronies is that they're taking something meant for little girls and warping it. It's one thing to get obsessive about something aimed at your audience. It's another to essentially steal a show not meant for you.

And that's what it's essentially is, because I've heard parents complain about how impossible it is for their daughters to search for MLP on the internet without getting some meme site or weird sex s***. That's another thing that's so much worse about MLP than other fandoms; that they've somehow taken a show about ponies meant for little girls and made a phenomenal amount of weird sex s*** related to it. It's disgusting in ways that typical weird sex s*** can't even touch.

While I haven't seen the show myself, from what I've heard of it, it's (while funny) very shallow. "Let's be friends" as a running theme is not something that any mature-minded adult should be obsessed over. It implies a level of naivety and immaturity among the fanbase that creeps a lot of people out, I think.

And this is just me personally, but the fan works I've seen of MLP have almost universally been "Take pony, stick in something else". Let's take Doctor Who and remake a scene with ponies in it, hilarious!!!!! Fan stuff of other works can get creative, but fan stuff of MLP seems to be just that, and to me that implies that the fanbase cares more about the fact that they're watching ponies than the actual show itself.

So yeah. Bronies suck, worst fanbase that's ever existed, sorry B8ers who are bronies I don't mean you.

I don't really care what it mean to 'be a brony'. That doesn't mean anything. Every fanbase has normal people that just enjoy the work; that's not what fanbases are judged on. A fanbase as a whole is judged on the worst, and the worst of MLP is a degree more terrible than any other fanbase I've ever seen.

I'll admit, there are some real Brony freaks out there. But I've also met my fair share of Bronies who are actually normal, perfectly friendly people. John de Lancie is making the Brony documentary because he's been a part of the Trek fandom, and understands that there are a lot of similarities between the fandoms, and that just because you're passionate about something doesn't mean you're a freak.

With safesearch on, yes, it was fine for little girls to search for Barbie related stuff and be fine. Even with safesearch on, searching for MLP is not the best idea.
