I read a bunch of things about 2.0 last night and I have to say, I'm not into MMOs but it sounds kinda good. That old dragon-fighting screenshot is eye candy if ever there were eye candy in an MMO. I look forward to hearing opinions on how stale the environments are because according to that concept art they'll be working on that big-time too.

Yeah, the environments are really stale right now. But, everything that is there looks great, it just all kind of looks the same(Monsters and stuff still look great). A couple of the cities are very impressive from the outside(And inside) as well. So they have decent groundwork to build upon.

If my Summer semester wasn't going to be hell for the next seven weeks I'd probably drop ten bucks to check it out after all. Maybe once classes lighten up I'll do so depending on what else I'm playing. At this rate I might well still be working on Starcraft at that point though.

My char on Ragnarok is Kaith Laqueus, I play in EU time as does most of my LS but you're more than welcome to join us if you want.

We're a pretty small LS, just like 8 or so atm. Basically we all played together in XI for 5+ years so stuck together in XIV.

It is a lot better than it used to be but admittedly still has a lot of flaws. It seems to me that they are putting all their eggs into the 2.0 basket and just keeping enough development on pre-2.0 to keep players happy. They all took all their staff from XI to focus on 2.0 too (There's like 2-5 XI staff now).

I'm basically playing now so that I can experience pre-2.0 content that won't be around after 2.0.

Half the issue with FFXI was that SE had the most atrocious customer service and interfaces known to man.

Is this changing? If not FFXIV will still probably suck.

So far the game isnt too different from release. However, the interface is much improved, actually works, isnt lagged to hell and back, and everything else actually works.
