I read it, but frankly I didn't spend much time trying to figure it out. I wasn't entirely sure how it fit in with everything. In an effort to get caught up, I don't spend much time thinking over the things I just read. So if stuff doesn't immediately click while I'm reading it, I just move on and figure if it's important it'll come up again and make more sense.

It wasn't explained, but it was vaguely hinted at because she's the only troll that could go out during the daytime and had a few pages where she idolized rainbow drinkers and tried to drink some blood.
After catching up, every archive binge reader is obliged to start over and read the whole thing again.
There's so very much a first-time reader rushing to catch up won't get, and it only results in a lot of bad, non-informed posts on forums and dozens of pages of Hussie having to explain everything we already know over again so the clueless people understand it.

It was around a day or so? I think. I got mine pretty early but I know it sold quick. But this time there are also some copies being sold at TCAF which should slow down TopatoCo's stock draining a little.
Either way, it didn't take TOO long for them to restock last time, so it isn't all that bad if you do have to wait.

I don't think we've gotten any walkarounds, but for the first book you're just given stuff like, pages with a bloc of like 9 progressing images on them. Even Hussie admits that the book is an inferior way to experience HS; he spoils later stuff in the author notes even since I suppose he expects everyone reading the book to be a huge HS fan that's up to date on the webste. >_> His author notes are fantastic though and foreshadowed a lot of the stuff that happened at the beginning of Act 6.

PRE-SCRATCH HUMANS John > Dave > Jade > Rose
Jade may be annoying at times, but I wasn't very fond of the direction Rose took during their session. Dark Rose just didn't cut it for me, whereas Jade started to grow on me over time. Dave is clearly above both of them and that's all that needs to be said on that matter. John is my favorite character overall, so yay him.
POST-SCRATCH HUMANS Dirk > Jake > Roxy > Jane
I might be a little biased, but I just love it when writers can make characters gay without that being all there is to them. Dirk is badass first and foremost, and just happens to be gay and Jake needs to f***ing prepare himself for that s***. I do wonder if Dave's Bro is also gay, or if perhaps it's only because of the circumstances Dirk grew up in. Trolls don't have any concept of homosexuality, and Dirk was born in a time ruled by a troll overlord. Then again, Dave's Bro DOES have all those smuppets...
Oh, uh, got off topic there. Next is Jake, because he's pretty awesome too. Roxy is perpetually drunk 15/16 year old. Awesome. Jane's not bad or anything, but she's just rather bland compared to everyone else.

Objectively speaking, I know at the very least that Karkat, Vriska, and Terezi are better characters than Tavros. But still, best doesn't always equal favorite. I think Tavros has the best design (best horns, really), and I really like his personality.
After Terezi, it starts getting a little harder to rank the other trolls. A lot of them really didn't have a ton of screentime. Equius's superiority fetish is basically what lands him is spot, I think that's f***ing hilarious. Don't really have much to say about Eridan or Aradia.
Something about Sollux didn't particularly click for me, but he's still not bad. He's probably the troll that most deserved additional focus. Early on, I felt they were setting him up to be pretty important, but they never really followed through on that. I've already expressed some of my opinions on Kanaya, but upon reflection for these rankings, I realized she wasn't really bottom tier after all.
Gamzee being this low is probably an unpopular opinion, but I just don't care for the juggalo thing at all. Still, he does enough humorous things to push him over the last two (creating Tavrisprite almost pushed him over Kanaya, but eh...).
Feferi and Nepeta just didn't have a whole lot going on for them. Feferi also would've benefited from having more focus, and I would've liked her to take on more of a leadership role. That didn't happen, though, so oops. Down near the bottom she goes. I think Nepeta had the least screentime, and her personality basically boiled down to "likes cats".
I'm not going to rank the other trolls yet, since there's still not a lot to go on for them yet. Buuuut, I guess preliminary rankings would go Meenah > Aranea and undyingUmbrage > uranianUmbra. Personality trumps non-personality for both inequalities.

It made both Nepeta and Equius shine in my opinion. Actually, Nepeta is Equius' saving grace to me. He's one of the worst trolls alone, but when speaking to Nepeta he becomes a better character.
I mean she's not really up there with the best trolls, but to rank at least Feferi over her is a crime.
Also, we apparently really like the cat stuff.

Oh god, Nepeta last on trolls? That is so awesome. I don't like Nepeta that much. It really doesn't help that her fanbase is really obnoxious. But I think she's at least better than Feferi. If Nepeta is "likes cats", Feferi is "likes fish". And Nepeta and Equius's friendship is a lot better than Eridan and Feferi's friendship...thing.
Full kid ranking...I dunno if I can do that, Beta kids have so much more screentime than Alpha kids that it's unfair. I didn't really like Grimdark Rose that much either, but early Rose and current Rose are both so, so good.
Tavros as favorite, huh. I can see why and I have a similar attitude towards Gamzee and Eridan. Still, I really like Karkat, Vriska, and Terezi too. Not only are they really well-developed, but they are really great, fun, and just generally amazing characters.

Nepeta is an anime catgirl troll that ships her real life friends. That's a f***ing hilarious concept. That's basically all that there is to Nepeta, but I find her gimmick at least a little funny.
