Peanut butter on one side and jelly on the other. I just realized someone puts the jelly and peanut butter on one side and leaves the other bare. What is this madness?

I just put peanut butter on it, both sides. And I eat them seperately. Oh wait that's peanut butter toast.

What?

First of all, even if you're putting them on opposite sides and using the same knife to do it, that will happen.

Second of all, I use a knife for the peanut butter and a spoon for the jelly since it's easier.

Again, what? Take knife, spread peanut butter. Take spoon, scoop out some jelly, put it on top of the peanut butter that is already on the bread. Place extra bread slice on top. Easy.

I didn't think something like this could be the next cereal before milk conundrum.

No you don't. PB is really sticky, so there's no risk of it coming off in the jelly jar unless there's a huge glob of it on the knife.

You're much more likely to get jelly in the PB jar since it will slide right off.

Yup. Easier to scoop the jelly and I don't mix the peanut butter into the jelly which would be crazy.

How do you spread the peanut butter and then use the same knife to spread the jelly?

Actually it's pretty easy to spread jelly over peanut butter without actually touching the peanut butter. I don't think I've ever accidentally brought some peanut butter back into the jelly jar.

Obviously I make mine the same way Halo does. Though I don't use a spoon at all. I just use a knife for both.

I wipe it off with my fingers, eat it, then rinse it clean before spreading the jelly. Takes like 5 seconds at the most.

This seems like it would take too much effort from me. And using a spoon for jelly is much easier than a knife.

I really haven't eaten a peanut butter & jelly sandwich in years though. When I was a kid someone (my mom?) told me to use a spoon for the jelly as it was easier. So I did and always have.

No spoons either, because I'm not that weird.

I use Menji's method. Knife, PB one side, knife, jelly other side. Combine. See ya.

Wipe any excess PB on the clean slice of bread. Cleaning the knife is pointless since the PB isn't going to come off in the jelly jar anyways.

Yeah, I don't really see a problem with it. It's a small amount of peanut butter and I've washed my hands, so what's the big deal? I then blast it with hot water to get any residue off.

Sometimes I'll use a napkin and wipe it off then rinse it, but that seems wasteful when I could just eat it.

I've done this before as well. And while I know that the PB isn't going to come off I still rinse the knife anyway. Force of habit, I guess.

But as a kid it was difficult times, so I got accustomed to using a spoon. Once against I haven't had a PB&J sandwich in several years since I'm too lazy to make any sandwiches in general.

I use a knife to pull out and spread the jam on one slice of bread (it's really easy if you turn the jar partially like you're pouring it), then rinse it clean and dry it, then use the same knife for peanut butter on the other slice and combine the bread.

Then I lick the knife clean.

A glass of milk to go along with the sandwich is a must.

Peanut butter on one side, jelly* on the other.

Jelly goes on first, run it under the tap, dry it with paper towel, peanut butter goes on next.

*By jelly I hope all of us are referring to jam or preserves, because actual jelly is awful.

Peanut butter on one piece of bread, spread it, wipe extra on other piece of bread. Strawberry jam on the other piece of bread, spread it. Make sandwich. Easy.

If I'm packing for keeping it in a sandwich bag for outdoor trips or lunch on the go, I spread peanut butter on both sides thinner than usual and then just add the jelly on one or the other to a regular amount. Keeps the bread from getting soggy and all.
