Do you use them?

I almost need to have them, which is weird because I hate them in movies. But when I'm watching a video game cutscene, if I don't have them, I'll miss important points. I don't have this problem as much with movies.

I use them most of the time, especially in dialogue-heavy games to make sure I catch everything.

Absolutely necessary in Ass Creed so you can get what they're saying in Italian, too.

I do it because I live with annoying people in my house who happen to make obnoxious noises whenever I play games.

I'm also glad I got a Turtle Beach so I don't wake up anyone at night.

Not really. Maybe occasionally for environmental dialogue, but not cutscenes/conversations.

I use them in games if there aren't by default moments where you have to read the dialogue as text, otherwise I don't. And I only ever use them in games.

For instance in Devil May Cry games you don't have dialogue moments that aren't voiced.

But in FFX a lot of the dialogue, particularly from NPCs, isn't voiced.

So yeah I'll use the subtitles in FFX but not DMC.

Yeah, I'm still not confident enough with my English to turn them off, which is kinda stupid since I understand 100% of English tv shows and they usually speak faster in those.

I hate them in games cause I end up just staring at them instead of whatever's going on. Like Batman Arkham City.

If nothing happens in cutscenes I might put them on.

Only random NPC townspeople dialogue doesn't get voiced in FFX actually, which isn't that much dialogue. FFX-2 and FFXII have a lot more unvoiced dialogue.

Usually I do, to make sure I catch everything being said. I find a lot of games have at least some amount of garbled dialogue, or drawn out scenes that I tend to zone out during, or get impatient with.

Always in games, sometimes in movies where the dialogue is hard to hear, or the sound goes from really loud to very soft frequently.

I have pretty poor speech cognition, so I wish subtitles were always available for movies, and I always turn them on in video games even if the dialogue is usually clearer.

I use subtitles in games where I feel like I'm not going to catch everything for one reason or another. (IE: GTAIV, Skyrim, etc.)

I use them every time in games. I like them for movies too, but most people hate them so I have gotten used to either.

I usually take them out, because it forces me to pay attention, with subtitles I'll read them without paying attention and miss something
