is it just me, or are solo tops generally the worst players in the game? I rarely ever see someone screw up a team comp with jungle/support/mid/carry bot, although it does happen. People will pick a solo top champ and refuse to change it...almost every game.

Trust me when I say ruined several games with sytha by playing something like first pick Teemo and getting bodied.

I don't ever get to play fun tops in ranked because everyone is SO SERIOUS at 1400 elo, so I take it out on Sytha. Most tops don't ever adjust those builds if that build worked really good one time.

Anyways, I decided to start playing actual good top laners and I bought Riven. Jesus Christ. How did I not do this earlier. I can start Dorans level 1 and just half someone with

Q attack Q attack Q attack. I first blooded a Warwick at level 2 and was like "whoa".

Next up: Sytha teaches me how to solo top Jarvan.

Top lane is the most isolated and I find that they're the most anal when it comes to jungle ganks.

A bad solo top isn't necessarily the end of the game, that depends on the enemy champion. Like, you can feed Yorick all game, but he's still just an ultimate when all is said and done.

The criteria for solo top champions is pretty wishy washy, as well, so people figure they can play whatever they want.

So many wrong things there Bio. I usually don't like to correct but both those things have alot to do with what I play.

1.Yorick is not just a dominant laner who falls off. If you feed Yorick your carry is boned. Yorick's Army of Ghouls make it nearly impossible to land skill shots on him. If he has 4 ghouls out he takes 20% less damage. The dude can chain slow a carry and it's very hard to pull him off. With Visage/Glacial/Masteries I can spam W and E enough to keep me alive and on you for quite some time.

Also Yorick is the single best lane controller in the top lane. He can freeze lane infinitely because he can body tank the lane and regen it with his ghouls. He can also use ghouls to tank for him. Once he gets Tear he can do this infinitely.

2. There's a reason TSM traded in Rain Man for Dyrus, why Dignitas wins so much, and why Wickd wasn't allowed to help out in Hannover. Solo Tops win games. If you lose top early you're pretty much boned with lane control and freezing

Dyrus plays less aggressive than TRM does imo, and Dignitas have just as often been carried by qtpie or Scarra (or even Jatt back in the day) as they have by Voyboy. He just brought lee sin top back into the spotlight recently

It's not about being carried.

It's the fact that VoyBoy dominates and pushes top so hard that he can roam and ward enemy blue or gank mid repeatedly. The pressure he puts on enemy junglers/mids is crazy.

Dyrus is probably the best lane controller I've seen top lane. If he gets a lead he just sits on it and zones you.

Dyrus is just better than TRM in like, every way. I think any team would have made that trade (I also find TRM annoying)

yes the point is because voyboy is a good player, wickd is a good player, dyrus is a good player, it's not simply the fact that it's solo top, it's the fact that those solo tops crush their opponents because they're so good. mids can win games, bottom lanes can win games, junglers can win games. I forget which team shut down dignitas in IPL, TSM I think, they repeatedly ganked voyboy and kept him down because he was rolling everyone with lee sin, I think it's more an issue of Voyboy than it is the lane

First Ranked Game Trying out Gold Bank Katarina

16/8/18

1700 extra gold off kills/assists alone. How much I get from heart of gold/philo stone and gold quints I don't know but I ended the game with 5k more than our Warwick with 16 kills and 25 assists.

What made me think of this build was the Mercenary Mastery in the Defense Tree. 24 Gold doesn't seem like much for an assist until you remember Katarina gets 25 gold for an assist already. This means every kill/assist I get 50 gold extra. In team fights if my ult hits all 5 people and we Ace I can get 250 gold without a single kill.

Even better is if I get a kill and then the double or triple. This build allows Katarina to snowball out of control so quickly. By 25 minutes in I'm routinely up a Mid Level item on my opponent.

If you lose Mid Lane it's ok because you can't be denied CS. AP Mids have farm abilities and they also can roam and get kills. See: Katarina.

Bottom Lane has a support to keep you in there CSing and plus you're so warded off you don't really have to worry about ganks.

Top Lane is constantly ganked, constantly harassed, and if you get behind the person ahead can freeze it and zone you. Or they can push it to turret and roam and apply pressure. This is why winning top is so important.

Finally took Riven out against other players, and got pitted against Shen/Olaf dual top. Came out of laning 2/4/3, but it could have been worse if our Jungle Mundo wasn't as good at signalling ganks as he was. Once we moved into teamfight everything turned around, with high points being getting Wind Slash kills on Akali nearly every time she tried to shroud. Ended as our victory at ~40min with my score improving to 13/8/8.

So a random calls mid, then realo calls mid, then I (jokingly) call mid, and another random calls mid. realo and one of the randoms insta-locked Kat and Annie, and the other random picked Karthus, so I picked Veigar and the third random random'd Morgana. That certainly would've been an interesting game...

I remember we had a normal game where we ALL randomed and we all decided to go boots of swiftness then 5x Zeal.

We moved FAST.

We crit a LOT.

We didn't have much damage mind you, but we moved FAST and crit A LOT ^___^



There were only 4 of us.

Not only did our random ally JOIN us, someone on the other team saw what we were doing and promptly sold his items and joined us too.

THAT was a fun game.

Game is too AD carry based atm... literally every game won or lost has been either our AD winning bot or their AD winning bot.

So naturally more often than not their AD has been fed a lot more than mine/ours.

Also so many bad Graves players lol.

Why did it take me so long to abuse Kat's passive I'll never know.

Every kill is like taking a spree. Every assist is like a kill. It's feels so good when your enemy mid has no clue why you have so many items when you're even in kills.

Sometimes I forget about his passive.

Still, as much as magic AoE damage makes some junglers unstoppable, it also causes a lot of collateral damage. I think that's what Riot is afraid of.

Also I think the whole "farm endlessly as AD carry" is the reason I have trouble with the role. Being alone for the majority of the game makes me paranoid as hell.

realo and I just finished a game with a Lux that couldn't support and an Ashe that couldn't farm. They also thought that dragon was important at the 45 minute mark and wasted half our baron deciding on whether or not they should b to push lanes instead of pushing mid to win the game. So lame.

The only good that came out of that was a sweet triple kill I got 1v5ing the enemy team in our base (would've been a penta if Renekton and Shaco didn't have Guardian Angel).
