only the 3rd game to reach platinum which requires an average user rating of 9.5 or higher. If I recall on the Nintendo Channel you're not allowed to rate a game unless you've logged at least an hour of the game onto your Wii so we know the ratings are from people who have at least played the game.
Only other games to get a platinum rating are Metroid Prime Trilogy and Skyward Sword.

to use the channel you have to sync your wii stats to nintendo WFC
From: ninkendo | #005 yeah it's hard to believe neither Mario Galaxy is rated that high by the users, yet Skyward Sword is considering how split the fanbase seemed about it
Well it's likely that the people who don't really like it don't bother with Nintendo Channel, while the ones who do the ratings could generally be huge Nintendo fans and Zelda usually always pleases those fans. Or perhaps that the people who didn't like how it looks or plays didn't even bother with it.
And it's possible that the reason why neither Mario Galaxies made it is because of it having a higher player-rate.
Now that I think about it, Xenoblade probably doesn't have that high of a player-rate, which helps its score. Same goes with Metroid Prime Trilogy.
