Modkill: 1 game ban.
Modkill where you reveal information that's against the rules beyond "no talking at night": 3 game ban.

Make both of these cumulative with past offenses, so like, in a game where you got modkilled if you'd had 1 modkill and 1 info modkill on your record you'd get a 5 game ban.

I find this pretty extreme. The whole point of a mod kill is punishment itself. There are a lot of reasons you can be mod killed, such as the one time where like 4 people got killed in a row a couple games back.

Three of them clearly knew that they were posting after hammer, because they were all commenting on the hammer vote. A one-game ban for deliberate posting of content at night seems fair. The only disputable one is SBell, because his post was ambiguous -- it wasn't clear whether he was responding to the hammer, or responding to earlier posts without having seen the hammer.

Yeah uh, if punishment was more severe for posting during night people would do it less often. So I don't think it's severe. People should get punished there. B8 towns are really bad with that. If you get modkilled more than once every 10 games you have a problem and the punishment should scale up.

And for the record HGR's modkills were completely justified from a rules sense, if you're talking about that game. The only thing that you could argue was unjustified about them (other than SBell's MK) was that he compromised the integrity of his game more by making them than he would've by not making them.

In a way HGR took a hit for the community-- turning his game to crap to set a good example. Unfortunately the problem is the community makes fun of his hosting style instead of calling it for what it is-- that b8 is idiotic with the don't "post at night" rule. If more hosts were like HGR it'd be less of a problem-- sure we'd have a crappy game once in a while as a result but those would stop and things would be better off.

anyways nice to see this game happening I talked to Ed Bellis about six months ago and he seemed more or less totally uninterested in mafia after I mentioned I was looking forwards to this game.

Anyway I do think it would be nice to have a standard punishment method of some sort instead of just "whims of Sir Chris"

it doesn't need to be one or the other - each individual host can do as he sees fit. for example i definitely would not enforce a '1 game ban' on a modkill i disagreed with, or even one that could be chalked up to the player not knowing any better, if i think he's learned from it. and as i mentioned if plum wanted to play in a game of mine as early as tomorrow, i'd be cool with that too.

different hosts have different perspectives on what constitutes a ban-worthy offense, and that's totally fine. i don't see the value in standardizing.

not to mention that in a real situation, the merits of the 'banned' person would need to be weighed against those of other low-priority players trying to get in. it's not like we have an infinite pool of desirables from which to draw. various offenses would bump people down in priority, but a (not too serious) offender who is otherwise average at mafia might still be better than the alternative if the alternative is a garbage player. at least that's how i'd see things.

that said there's no harm in chris or anyone else making recommendations, if people want to follow them

The top two suspensions have already been talked about with said players and accepted. Reduction in penalty subject to Chris approval.

Incidentally, and take my ignorance of the situation into account, I think more people than just Chris should have say in suspensions. We're still not an authoritarian state, last I checked. What about Red, Boko, etc.? Mafia Council of Elders?

- Plum, a scum member, was recruited into the masonry and died.
- Ulti posted the playerlist and ranted about the game on the mason board just because Spiral and maybe someone else asked him for the playerlist. He claimed to have posted knowing plum could see but said that he didn't think it mattered since he trusted plum not to say anything.
- plum saw, taunted Ulti a bit, then told Boko (who was his scum buddy still in the game) that there was an SK. I dunno about the rest of the details about that.
- Ulti modkilled plum over this and replaced Boko.

Uh, where's SBell/XIII/FD's guilt in this?

I think it'd be cool to do a Hunger Game theme...or really, I'd want to try setting up a Battle Royale themed game. Going to flat out admit I don't know enough to really balance it though but would be interested in co-hosting that if enough people even know Battle Royale.

Well obviously it's up to the individual host but if you have a lot of hosts dissenting with the opinion the impact of the punishment is lessened which means that no one actually cares they've been assigned a 1 game ban or whatever and so the whole practice is pointless.

If you standardize punishments a bit this is less likely to happen.
