Onions - God's wonder veg, if you make a stir-fry or a burger without onions, you're doing it wrong. Also fantastic batter-fried
Potatoes - Another multi-tasker. Fried, mashed, baked, you can do so much good with a bag of potatoes.
Corn - Have you ever had fresh corn on the cob with just a bunch of butter and some salt and pepper? Holy ****, that's good. Also a required part of cornbread, which is the best bread.
Cucumbers - Required part of tzatziki sauce, that's all that needs to be said.
Tomatoes - More versatility, and it makes a killer sauce. I don't actually like straight tomatoes, but in most dishes with the right spice compliments, you've got good stuff.
Spinach - Canned is terrible, fresh is part of all of the best salads, and if you treat it right, it's a great side to a good steak.
Carrots - They jump up to the top when you're talking about eating raw, maybe second to spinach. It's kinda hard to hide, though.
Broccoli - Pretty much the same as spinach, but it has great sauce-holding capabilities, because of all of the tiny florets.
Peas - Again, way better fresh. I can't stand canned peas, but fresh is pretty good.
Lettuce - Spinach's whiny, more popular little brother. Only good as a filler, really.
Celery - Only good in Cajun food, but that's good enough to not be last. I always hated ants on a log, though.
Beans - Can suck it. The taste is alright, but I can't stand the texture. Too soft and grainy.

Also, lack of sweet potato, cauliflower (makes the best purees), bell peppers and green beans makes me a sad panda.

Ayuyu i know you're ayuyu and everything and can't fathom other people's opinions but onions literally overrule every dish they touch (if they're still apparant, I'm not talking about mixing them in soup or having bits in spaghetti or whatever). If you don't like the taste it's only natural that you will dislike said dish if there's a considerable amount of onions in them.

The 12 years old bit is dumb because I've tried onions many times in my life, hell I stomach them at least once a month with the dishes my mom, grandmother or stepmom make. I just don't like them. End of story.

Also onion rings > fries. Even when I didn't like onions in anything else, I liked onion rings.

Definitely true on the tomato part. Tomatoes go terrible with anything else. If something ever has a tomato on it, I'll just eat the tomato alone; tastes much be better that way.

this is the same for pizza sauce and what not.

Mixing things into a sauce, powder and what not will ALWAYS give it a different flavor. This does not change the fact that I dislike raw or cooked onion in a dish.

Personally, I don't find cooked onions to be overpowering, especially if it's a dish with a rich sauce. They're nice but not obtrusive. Raw onions are a lot stronger.

If your onions are too overpowering... cook them longer? Just like garlic, they become sweet and mild when cooked.

But yeah TC has an excellent ranking, especially putting carrots at the top when raw, which is the important one. I wish the poll had red bell peppers cuz those are absolutely godlike when raw and fresh.

How the hell did I forget garlic? I never think of it as a vegetable. Garlic is goddamn delicious, roast it and then mix it with butter and spices, spread it on some fresh bread, you have the best garlic bread you'll ever eat. It's also fantastic plain and roasted, and the smell, oh god the smell of garlic. If it was kosher, I'd make a cologne out of garlic.

That's dumb. It's not like I just avoid onions and refuse to eat anything with onions in them. I never understood why people always assumed that you just never tried something if you claim to hate the taste. I'll eat onions in things simply not to look rude, but they're terrible. I've never liked them in anything and they have never made a dish better. They're distracting and the taste is something I will simply never enjoy.

I can handle onion rings... sort of. The first 3-4 are great, but after that the onion taste just gets too strong and they're not nearly as enjoyable.

It's not your tastebuds, you're just not cooking them enough.

If there is any hint of raw whiteness in the onion/garlic, it will be sharp and bitter. If you roast them down to a brown mush, they are extremely sweet. I can understand calling roasted garlic 'not sweet' because even when it's really cooked, there is still a hint of sharp flavor, which might come across as bitter to you, but the onions should be entirely sweet.
