I still don't understand how people can enjoy game like Xenoblade and hate on mmos, they're really similar.
I like both personally so..
I like both as well, as long as the combat in the MMO is good (WoW is pretty fun)
But the key difference is that MMOs don't need their gameplay cycle to be fun at all. The social aspect compels players to perform a ridiculous amount of straight-up boring chores just so that they can level up and get the best gear that all the other players have. The goal isn't to have fun, it's to get better gear, which is why MMOs are full of chores. And of course making people grind more = more playtime = more monthly subscription money.
But in a "singleplayer MMO", the player is not at all compelled to get better gear just for the sake of it. They aren't competing with anyone. So things like gem crafting and items and sidequests have to be designed to be either fun, or entirely optional, or else the player will just stop playing.

But I do love it! I just feel like I'm still pretty early overall (just recently got Sharla).
That's just my opinion. From my time spent on the Xenoblade board there is really no consensus on what the best area is. There are a lot of great ones.
Yeah, FA is my favorite as well. The views are outstanding.
I've said this before, but I would like Valak Mountain a hell of a lot more if it weren't for its damned Ice Cabbages. I grew to pretty much loathe the place after spending hours trying to find a single Ice Cabbage.

I don't even remember Rainbow Slugs so I must not have had a problem with them. Hell, I don't think I remember any collectible besides Ice Cabbages so that should be enough indication of how deeply ingrained my hatred of them is.

Hearing this music on my computer(some pretty nice speakers on it) really makes me want to spend the money to get a quality surround sound set for my consoles/tv.
Started the Ether Mine tonight and ran into Glowspring. Pretty uh, easy-to-find secret area, heh. The Level 29 fella back there almost nailed my coffin but we showed him who's who.
Too bad my TV speakers suck and I can't hear dat bass
This is blasphemy! Who the hell plays games without either A: High-end speakers or B: High-end headphones? Someone who doesn't know how to properly enjoy games, that's who!
Gaur Plain really isn't even a top 20 song on the OST though. Not that it means that it's bad!
Just met Sharla or whatever I forget her name cause I was tired last night. Time to do every sidequest here now before continuing with the story! Or would it be better to do the story before some of these. Also there was one sidequest with a clock icon, does that mean it's only gonna be active for a limited time or was it just because I can only fight the monster during a thunderstorm?

I have decent headphones for my PC, but obviously I can't use them for a Wii game. I guess I could get good speakers for my TV... but I don't care about sound THAT much I guess.
Also I know I haven't heard the majority of songs in the game, but in the 16 hours I've played, Gaur Plains is pretty far better than the rest.

It means they're temporary, but you decide when the time limit is, kinda.

only available for a limited time
most quests you'll see with clocks will still be available for quite a ways yet, but for the Colony 6 Refugee quests they're available until you do a side-quest where you move them back home
I want to put Melia in my party because she's awesome (and Dunban, for that matter), but there's really nothing better than the Shulk/Reyn/Sharla trio. Shulk is by far the best DPS, Reyn is by far the best tank, and Sharla is by far the best healer. I guess replacing Shulk with Dunban/Melia for DPS would theoretically work, but the Monado is kind of important...

Of course you can. It's just a matter of whether you're willing to shell out a couple dollars for an extension cord. An easy purchase if you ask me.

The main theme, Confrontation with the Enemy and Colony 9 at least are pretty much objectively better, but most of the best songs pop up further in, yes.

Pretty sure this has been mentioned before, but what you speak of is known as the Noob Team. It is not a good team. You can use it if you like it, but it won't be for the sake of effectiveness!

Nope, wrong aaaand nay.
I would suggest everyone to use all the characters on rotation to get the most out of the game(and get affinity with everyone), but if you must use only one team, use the characters you like. There's no need for either Shulk, Reyn or Sharla. In fact the "best" teams don't involve any of them.
I'm just saying that I really see no way that I can rearrange my party to make it work. I mean for random encounters I know I can do pretty much any setup, but I can't imagine fighting a boss or something strong without either the Monado or any heals.

So many little things in this game's story are clearly inspired by Takahashi's experience with his previous projects. It's not remotely surprising or anything, it's just amusing.

All party combinations can work well, but your problem is that you need extra healing because you're using Reyn. Shulk-Sharla-Reyn is basically a party built on redundancy, where all Sharla does is heal Reyn who constantly gets hurt just trying to keep the enemies' attention so Shulk alone can get some stuff done.
Switch Reyn for Dunban, and suddenly you don't need much healing because he never gets hit. Then you can have three heavy-hitters in the party instead of one. My favourite party at that point was easily Shulk-Dunban-Melia.
Speaking of Melia. Just picked her up. I guess she doesn't come with a tutorial like everyone else? Want to make sure I know how she works. Activate skill -> buffs allies -> magic sparkle above head -> use middle button -> magic sparkles attack, yes? Middle button full -> magical sparkle attack stronger?

you got it

Oh right. A question I've had. Is there any way to move equipped ether gems to new equipment when you equip it. Or maybe unequip gems from unequipped equipment. It's kind of a pain shuffling things around when I'm changing gear.
