Jesus Christ, the textures are ****.
I really hope someone makes a high res pack or something??
Play it on Dolphin with your PC if you have one capable of doing so. Just... buy the game anyway if at all possible if you care about those quality JRPGs makin' it to Western shores.

well...
for Dolphin only
though I should warn you not to google for this thing, because for some reason I don't understand, they included spoilerific images where you download this thing
It's not an obsession, the game is just painful to look at on a big TV. I've mostly solved it by sitting 12~ feet away from the TV, though. It's like nature is giving me free anti-aliasing! The remote's sensor is even out of range at that point, good thing this game uses no motion.

I'm surprised to see all these graphic complaints. My friend always makes fun of Wii graphics and makes fun of me when he comes over and sees that I'm playing an old game. He thinks old games suck and doesn't understand why anone would play them. But when I was playing Xenoblade he never said anything about the graphics. I just think it looks really good on my HD TV, character models aside.
From: foolm0ron | #318 Like I said earlier in the topic, the textures and models are well detailed and animated, it's just that the aliasing is so extreme.
Component cables + crank up the "softness" setting on your TV = Xenoblade looks excellent.
If the game looks pixellated with bad aliasing, just mess around with your TV remote. I've never seen a HDTV that doesn't have a softness slider.
Also, if you play on Dolphin, for the love of Bionis don't play in 1080p. I see people doing this all the time for some reason. It's a Wii game, if you bump it up to HD it only accentuates the low-poly models.
And the "HD texture" mods that are flying around are even worse. I can't believe people actually think that crap looks better, it's just an inconsistent mesh of incoherent design and badly tiled textures.
Ok so I just went from a 2-person part with a 300 point heal every 25 seconds, to a 3-person party with a 400 heal every 25 seconds, a 900 heal every 90 seconds, and a god damn AOE 500 heal, in addition to Shulk's heal. There goes the challenge.
This really feels like a game that I have to focus my attention on. I've been fleeting around between a series of games (Kingdoms of Amalur, Mass Effect 3, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Tales of Grace F) and I feel like this is a game that needs my undivided attention.

As long as you don't go OCD on the sidequests like some people seem to do, the challenge will just increase from there. Now that you have a dedicated healer, the game won't pull any punches.
I think most of the early ones are just counter-attacks
I didnt notice them myself until I came across monsters that put you to sleep as soon as you touch them and others who just hurt you by standing near you
Yeah, you'll want those later. The problem is that spike effects aren't a problem until so much later in the game that you never even think about accumulating them until you're getting reamed by a random unique enemy and it's only after your tenth attempt at fighting him that you realized you're losing 300 HP every time you hit him.

Yeah, there's a unique monster in sword valley that does spike damage, I had forgotten about spike damage that when it started hurting me, it caught me off guard, managed to kill him, but that was the only fight that gave me troubles. I have since spent some time forging new gems to clear space to pick up new crystals, that I am in no shortage of divine protect or spike defense gems.

So I just got to the part where Sephiroth sends his Articuno to kill a bunch of mechon (and I think a bit of Unfinished Battle played as well). I feel like the game is gonna get a lot more complex from here on...

Now that I have a bit of more free time this weekend, started up again. Just got done pushing Xord into the ether river. Game has been staying at a good pace so far, nothing that I would consider mind blowingly amazing or anything yet.
Though kind of a small nitpicky thing I don't like is how some story quests flags are so close to each other and you have endure a few too many talk scenes. Would have been better if they just combined them into one longer one.
I just discovered collections. Holy crap so many free gemz.
Also I think the most impressive thing about this game so far is how consistent the design is. I doubt anyone even thinks/cares about this stuff, but it definitely makes the game flow really well. Like in this game you have quests, arts, skills, items, and gems that all work the same way, even though they are completely different gameplay elements. They are all based around gathering a bunch of stuff for a long time, and then deliberately spending short amounts of time to spend that stuff, by selling things or leveling arts or crafting gems, etc., so there's a really steady cycle of mindless killing/gathering followed by a short burst of strategic thinking and planning, and repeat. That's probably the reason it is addictive to play.

Sounds like a MMO to me!
I still don't understand how people can enjoy game like Xenoblade and hate on mmos, they're really similar.
