People pick Lee Sin because his odds of failure are VERY low compared to Pantheon/Teemo/Kayle.

People pick Ryze over Leblanc because Ryze is safe. It's hard to fail with someone who can always pick back up.

I don't get why Ryze is as good as he is. Riot seems to go with the notion that champions that are harder to use should inherently be a little better than champions that are easy to use (which is why Anivia will probably never be nerfed). I personally think that's okay, but if so, why is Ryze so good when probably he's the easiest AP mid in the game?

Riot also goes with the notion (whether consciously or not) that "when in doubt the tankier thing will be stronger." That's why Ryze and Anivia are strong AP mids.

I'm not saying she's broken or anything I'm just saying that any champion with built in tankiness that has damage as well will be good, generally. Without her tankiness she probably isn't picked in those matches in spite of having the wall.

Ryze is not as easy as he seems.

His damage in lane is pitiful and his last hitting is quite hard without alot of practice.

Most APs can run flat AP and just dominate and push lanes and gank. Ryze can't.

Once he gets some mana then yeah, dude is a monster.

Ryze is just strong because of the extra stats he gets from building his primary stat.

I have a friend who has like a full mana page and I see him win most of his lanes as Ryze. No idea how viable that actually is, but it seems to work quite well.

In general a lot of old Ults that cost a lot of mana are getting lowered. I assume Teemo shrooms will be on of them to go along with stuff like Zilean Ult.

There is 1 role that has a MAJOR difference between good ones and bad ones at my elo:

Jungling.


They all think jungling means constantly ganking and then farming at the wrong times. They don't know how to cover lanes, how to actually farm their jungle, WHEN to gank, what Oracles is, how to gank from anything other than river, etc.

I'm almost forced to Jungle every game because of it.

And I'm not even a good jungler. I'm decent because I use Mundo and I know how to counter jungle. That's it.

I buy Oracles super early and just counter jungle everything. I farm and farm and farm and only gank when I have Red Buff and Exhaust.

This wins games. Basic stuff. I just wish people did basic stuff.

Jungle takes a lot of practice, unfortunately.

You have to be as situationally aware of the entire map as you possibly can be.

Not just how each of the lanes are going, but timing on dragons, blue/red buffs and barons.

And then there is a certain level of mind games with the enemy jungler that can become involved.



Like at an extremely low level it just seems like "okay everyone else will be in a lane, but you get to level up in the jungle and gank sometimes" and when you're brand new that can be hard enough to grasp, but then the scope of your responsibility just continues to expand the more you understand the game.

Yeah. Jungle and Support, even now that I'm playing against people with 1000 games under the belt, seem to be roles people don't get.

Supports think all they have to do is Ward and sit there and heal every so often. Or worse: KILL LANE SUPPORTS. Everytime I get a Blitzcrank or Leona they think every time their cooldowns are up they have to kill stuff.

Forget the fact that Sona/MF are gonna AOE Stun then HAHAHAHAAHA us.

Or that I'm Ashe and I can't do anything.

I'm finally gonna buckle down and buy a new rune page. Right now I have Yorick/AD carry page with flat damage and what not.

Then theres the Katarina/Mundo magic penetration page.

But Leona needs a specific page filled with armor on every damn area. I also need a hybrid page for Teemo and Kayle.

I also need to find a new UP champion besides Katarina. Leona is popular as is Mundo. Any ideas?

I cannot tell you how many times I've picked Leona in solo queue and been chastised for being "too passive" because I'm not diving on the enemy 24/7. Never mind that with Leona, initiation is a commitment and there are more factors going into play than "lol jus stun an he ded"

It's why Blitzcrank is the only kill lane support I'll ever bring into solo queue. Initiation is entirely on his terms. The support and jungle are non-factors if you hit your grab just so.

Janna was picked every game this tourney.

However, her win record isn't any better than the other supports.

Is she the best support? Absolutely. But I think what this tourney is really showing is that supports are contributing almost nothing to the team. Having Janna on your team isn't going to be a decisive factor compared to all of your other picks. All the supports are too weak right now, imo.



Meanwhile, Kog is crazy. Almost all of his losses come from being picked by weaker teams in the losers bracket. The guy is doing insanely well.

And Shyvana is 7 for 7. With no bans. just saying.

Every once in awhile people forget why you ban Nidalee vs CLG.

They don't forget twice. I'm not sure anyone is better with a Specific champion than Hotshot with Nidalee.

Doublelift with Vayne is pretty crazy. Voyboy's Lee Sin nearly solo'd Hannover. Diamondz Shyvana put Shyv on the map. But Hotshot's Nidalee single handedly puts Nidalee high on the ban list for a year now.

The thing about Janna is, while in most cases she contributes evenly with other supports(And arguably better, you cant ignite a shield), she has a chance to carry a teamfight with her ult or end it entirely if it isnt going so well. None of the other supports can really do that as well as she can.

Also global movespeed is still the most broken thing in the game.

You're wrong, but not entirely.

Supports are mattering less and less as time goes on, but Janna is the last hold out of supports with unholy kits. Sona changed games with her totally random AoE stun. Janna controls team fights and initiation completely with her Q and ult. No other support has that kind of lasting impact on the game aside from maybe Lulu, but she only ever saw play with Dignitas. Nobody seems to be playing her as a real support yet.

Supports contribute a great deal. Their contributions just dont show up the way a carrys does.

Having wards keeps your carry farming safely. Keeping the enemy poked keeps your carry stronger.

Janna's contribution is much simpler: she fixes mistakes. Team fight going badly? Ultimate. Carry out of position or did someone forget to CC that tanky dps? Janna ult.

The basis for a poke team, the core piece, is Janna. You try and engage and she goes lol nope. Her passive speed boost is probably the games best passive. Her knock up can stop multiple people. She's flat out the best team fighter in the support position.

She dives in with her ult and just destroys any plan you had because there's a GOD DAMN DRAGON IN YOUR FACE.

Also, saintvicious is just better than OddOne. That guy can't play aggressive Junglers. He doesn't counter jungle, he doesnt anti carry well. He's great at support Junglers like Maokai and he is a phenomenal ganker, but Saint is just better.

Udyr is a terror. He can go top lane and just stomp things with turtle stance sustain and shield. Bear makes him hard to catch and gank. He can turret dive without fear. The dude is walking free farm. His Q makes him do magic damage and attack damage so its hard to trade with him.

He can also jungle and is one of the few people who can counter jungle Shyvana. He can catch her and stun her out.

He causes a ton of problems because if you first pick him, you force the enemy to pick a top lane counter to him. Then he jungles and they counter you.

Shyvana and Mundo will be seeing nerfs. Olaf and Vlad should also see nerfs.

Lastly, anyone see the topic on LOL forums about the scaling on Varus and his percentage health move? Apparently it's stronger than Kog's. He also has a Sona Ult.

Does Riot even think when they make carrys? The last 2 have been release Graves and release Vayne.
