I am now about 14 episodes into Ideon and this whole setup is one big tragedy waiting to happen. Some really fantastic drama being setup with the two human factions and now the neo-religious aspects motivating them just feel so true to stupid real life wars.

Its a UC Gundam. Its like the furthest thing from being fantastical.
Oh, the continuity in which if you weren't psychic at the end, you were nothing. THAT totally-non-fantastical gundam series, right? I still say horse gundams piloted by horses is more realistic.
The entire crew of the White base, at least while together, had psychic abilities to a limited extent butthey werent very powerful.
Outside of Scirocco and Kamille and the cyber newtypes, no one ever gets to do much with their psychicness anyway because its a pretty weak level of the ability.

I gotta get this out. I finished CG R2 last night. It was mindblowing. There is brilliance in that madness, but I'm not satisfied. There were so many things that didn't end the way I wanted. For instance, Suzaku was set up to be the biggest douche in all of anime, you would think the Magnificent Bastard himself would have dealt with that cowardly lying cheating douche at the end. For ****'s sake he KILLED NUNNALLY. But he didn't. I have a problem with that. Bringing Nunnally back sort of relieves Suzaku of some of his terribleness and that's never a good thing.
Then there was the whole thing with all those people betraying Lelouch at the end but ended up not getting executed. WHY. He was the goddamn EMPEROR OF THE WORLD. He deserved to have the satisfaction of knowing he had the last laugh. But no. Instead of revenge, the show decided to REDEEM SUZAKU. WHY. WHY. He's one of the worst goddamn characters of anime ever.
Rolo getting redeemed, I'm fine with that. Rolo wasn't too bad, I felt sorry for him. If Shirely wasn't my favorite girl outside of C.C., I would have loved Rolo. But he killed Shirely... that is very hard to forgive :(
Pretty good episode! More so than Asemu and Zehart, I'm looking forward to seeing how Zehart and Desil's rivarly plays out. They are now openly hostile towards each other.
It's interesting how Asemu has gone from being a well adjusted kid to now being completely unhinged.
If there is one complaint, i think i would have liked a bit more follow up on Grodek's murder. How is Flit taking it? He seems to have just shrugged it off.
The proposal scene was cute. Sadly, Arisa continues to be useless in battle

Overall, so far, its not the best the franchise has to offer, but it still manages to be pretty good. The second arc is much better than the first, though the first had Grodek being awesome. There is only a 3 episode miniarc that I thought was bad, otherwise its solid.
Gundam Seed halftime report
There are some things about this show that I rather like. For example, Andrew and Mwa are pretty good character. The mech designs are pretty solid too (well, the ZAFT machines at least. Can't said I care for the Strike or the other Gundams, but then again, I've never really cared too much for the gundams themselves). However, there are some things about this show that really grind my gears.
1- The art style. Some characters look alright, others look REALLY bad. Such as Kira and literally all of his friends. Some characters look too samey as well, such as Lacus' father and the Admiral of the 8th Fleet.
2- Fllay. She's horrible and in terms of story elements, all that i don't like about the show are because of her. I don't give a crap about her J-Drama bull**** she brings to the series. It comes off as awkward and unnecessary.
3- Recycled animation. Everytime they need a shocked bridge reaction shot, they reuse the same loop. It's pretty bad. I'm sure other shows have done this, but its most noticeable here. Furthermore there are flashbacks every god damn five minutes.

yep. This show is at its best when it's just "Pew pew laserz". Whenever I see Athrun on scene, I have a bad feeling about it. Whenever I see Lacus on scene, doubly so. I know I'm in for a ****storm when Fllay is on screen.

Really soundin' like just the kinda anime I tend to avoid. That's the message I got when I watched a few random scenes back when it was airing on SyFy a few years ago too. It's a shame because parts of it look really pretty and, well, GUNDAM.
I've seen a lot of Seed (though from different points, not continuous) back when it was on TV and didn't like it back then. I hate most of the character designs. The mecha are pretty good though. In terms of modern Gundam, 00 and AGE are both streets ahead.

Surprisingly they were good with the other weird names! I guess I subconsciously think they do a better job pronouncing names like Athrun than the Japanese!
I'm just glad there's something else new to look forward to with Age. 00 is probably my favorite show in the franchise at this point but I still haven't seen everything.
