Late to the party here, but.... *ending stuff*

The final segment was great overall, up until the final cinematic. Which was horrible. It's just so frustrating to have your choices 'not really matter'. Civilization is screwed in the same way in each and every ending.

I don't think I've been as emotionally involved in a game since... a long time ago. I think it started at the temple, as cheesy/railroaded as it was. I had heard that the ending was bad/depressing, so I was expecting the worst. That was probably part of it.

I was also kind of disappointed because I misheard what the final guy was saying and didn't expect it to happen in every ending, just the red one.

And we all (well, those of us that have researched) know which one is going to end up being canon.

I was disappointed, but I got over it pretty fast.

The ending's bad, but it doesn't invalidate how great everything leading up to it is. So I just kind of ignore it now.

Terrible on almost every level. Red ending is fine in principle but horrible in execution. Blue and Green are bad in every way.

The endings had some pretty good ideas but had an awful execution with a ton of plotholes, not to mention some themes that go against what the rest of the series was trying to accomplish. It's pretty much awful.

I got over it eventually. Which isn't to say I like the ending now, but I've just kind of.....accepted that Bioware dropped the ball. Not much can be done about it now. Even ending DLC would just feel like a cop-out, and the in-game ending already was one.

I actually think that what they actually decided to do, the three choices before you, were okay. I ended up even liking them to a degree. I just wish the execution was a little better and that you got a more final confrontation with Harbinger.

But, as an example, in the blue ending, it would have been nice to see the geth actually accepting your choice, accepting a sacrifice to save the galaxy, or something. There just needed to be more fleshed out with each ending, more of an idea of what actually happened and what the repercussions were for each.

In terms of the direction the endings went not just patching everything up in rainbow wrapping paper, that was fine with me.

Well, after thinking about it last night while watching it, last night after beating it, last night in bed, and now today, I think ME3's ending might be the most disappointing thing I've ever experienced with a video game. I can barely describe how I felt - it's like a large portion of what I've invested into this series over 4+ years was hollowed out and made meaningless.

Are all these rumors of DLC patchwork to the ending actually plausible? I really hope they give us something better because I have little desire to do anything ME-related atm.

ENDING SPOILERS



The build-up was pretty damn astounding, the final run to the transport beam in particular. That moment when Shepard got hit by Harbinger's death ray in slow-mo and the screen turned white - I first thought it was a game over. When I heard radio chatter about none of us surviving, I didn't know what to think. When I saw Shepard rise as a half-dead bag of bones, I got a weird feeling in my gut. I was actually getting nerves over a video game. Games have made me laugh my ass off, tear up, play with the lights on, and yell at ppl around me in anger, but up until zombie Shep's slow ascension toward the Citadel, no game had ever actually induced a physical reaction in the pit of my stomach. It was the height of despair, as thought I was watching something I shouldn't have been and didn't really want to. Pretty difficult.



They should have followed that up with the height of triumph, but instead we got a corny, meaningless, borderline insulting pile of nothingness.

You know, thinking on it, I do feel that fans have no right to demand a new ending, however, they do have a right to call Bioware out on the bulls*** ending they did provide.

Well yeah, demanding a new ending is pretty unprecedented, isn't it? I don't really expect to get anything like that, but I'll still hope against hope. As baron said, I'm not mad and I'm not gonna BOYCOTT BIOWARE TO THE END OF TIME or anything, I'm just extremely disappointed. Mass Effect is the only series I've beaten where the story actually ends. Zelda games are self-contained. Resident Evil's story is meant to be corny and will be extended as long as the games make money. For me, this series has a spot right alongside those two as my absolute favorite, but it's unique because I knew it (or at least the Shepard saga) was ending. I wanted something really fulfilling to top off four years of emotional investment and hundreds of hours of gameplay. I got... whatever the hell that ending was. I'm still not exactly sure what to think.

Yeah, the idea of getting a new ending is kind of dumb. This is the ending we got and it sucks. Deal with it. No amount of revision will change the fact that Bioware's "artistic vision" was garbage and I paid them $60 to lead me on for 30 hours only for them to take a crap on my face at the last possible moment. I'm certainly not going to pay them more to wipe it off for me.

As I have said many times before, the ending doesn't make me hate the game, it's still one of my favorites, it's just the ending that sucks, and I probably would buy DLC for a new ending if they offered it, I just don't expect them to.

I just saw a Renegade Shep on YouTube. Looks like he dropped the renegade persona and went pure psychopathic sadist between games. There are lots of choices I'd never be able to make myself.

They're going to release Mass Effect N7 Collectors Edition -- comes with 6 discs of content, including DLC for all 3 Mass Effect games. And it features a new ending. And the price point is
$120.00. (360 version has 8 discs)

I know I'd buy it >_> But it'll never happen I'm sure.

I'd MAYBE do it since I never played Mass Effect 1, but I'd probably wait until the price dropped.

I love Mass Effect, and the moments on Tuchanka and Rannoch are amazing. Mordin is probably... well, I'd say top 2 character now for me. But, yeah... that ending just didn't do it. I loved what they did with The Illusive Man, actually, but everything after going up on the lift...

You can. It's easier if you have Wreav though. I would never be able to be pure Renegade if Wrex was around, just can't betray a bro like that. I still think that even talking him out of it isn't as good as what the Paragon path is. It's more emotional and satisfying in a way.

As for the end, I too felt utter disappointment. Like after beating the game I wasn't even able to look at it anymore for a while. But of course I got over it and went right back to playing the game because even though the end was the most disappointing and worst ending I've ever seen, the rest of the game is still incredibly fantastic.

Not really. Aside from that one terrible scene that you can completely avoid, the rest of his actions pretty much match what he's always been like. And honestly the stakes are way higher in this game so it's understandable that he'd get a bit more extreme at times.
