I remember when high scores from Famitsu actually meant something. Once they gave 40/40s to Nintendogs and Final Fantasy XII, though, everything went to hell. >_>
Still though, I think KI looks great. I think it's gonna be a huge deal.

The high score isn't that big of a deal (because lolFamitsu), but at a bare minimum, it does mean the game will be at least "pretty good," if not much better.

Am I the only one who thinks Pokemon Black/White is one of the list's most bizarre inclusions?
I mean, it's a good game and all... but IMO, it's an 8.5 at best. It felt pretty rushed in several aspects (most notably the Battle Subway, ick). Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver is still the definitive Pokemon experience, if you ask me.

No way. HG/SS was a fun nostalgia trip but it had its own issues.
Best Pokemon game is either B/W or Platinum. Still, I wouldn't say either of them deserves a perfect score. They're like 9.0 games but only if Pokemon is something you can get into. So I can agree with you there.

Agreed, except I'd lower that B/W score by 2 points. Such a disappointing game, in retrospect.
HG/SS is THE best Pokemon experience, bar none.

I am aware of this. Yes more western titles deserved 40/40. I would Say BioShock, Uncharted 2: Among thieves, Mass Effect 2, Red Dead Redemption, Portal 2, Batman: Arkham City and Skyrim all deserve it over a lot of those other titles.

It's good but it's just plain silly to give it 40/40 when it's missing improvements/features from previous Pokémon games.
This is the way I see it. The post-game content is just pitiful compared to HG/SS, it really needed some move tutors, and I actually missed being able to have a Pokemon walk around with me. Also, its soundtrack isn't one of the best in the series, not by a long shot.
It's still a good game, though. The visuals are excellent, I really enjoyed the emphasis on Unova Pokemon, and the storyline was surprisingly enjoyable. But there's no way I could call it a masterpiece. It's too rushed in various aspects.

I'd imagine the writing in Portal 2 wasn't as good to the Japanese audience. The translation probably didn't keep the same writing ability or something.
but that was only because I expected so much more out of Portal 2
