XD Sure, if you think that the current Newcastle squad is still operating with the likes of Xisco, Shefki Kuqi, Alan Smith, Wayne Routledge and Fitz Hall. Torres is still miles away from taking Llorente, Pedro, Villa and Soldado's spot in the Spain squad.

Torres at his best is better than all of the players you named. His talent is still there, even his pace is still there, he just needs a big confidence boost.

Adriano in his prime was awesome too. Look where he is now after his loss of form: Fired from Corinthians. If you have said World Cup 2014 maybe he'll have a chance. But not Euro 2012 he will not, especially with Llorente and Soldado being so much better at scoring right now.

Well yes there is a big chance he will not regain his best form, I won't argue that. But IF he does then he is guaranteed to be included in Spain's squad.

If you watch him play even now instead of just reading the headlines, , its obvious that he is still physically fit, his speed and strength are sill as good as ever, and he is 27 years only, he just needs the confidence.

Torres hasn't been given a significant run of starts and has only ever been at his best when played up front on his own. He can still do it but he needs to be the undisputed #1 striker, which is why I thought it was a dumb signing (with Drogba and Anelka still around).

That's like a total sports fan comment. Both in their prime are in the same tier/bracket/level and very good. Like the way you say it makes it look like Torres in his prime is a lesser Kevin Davies, cmon man. They both rock and if you had a 100% guarentee that they'd be in their primes for your team you'd be perfectly happy.

I think everyone knows prime Torres is outstanding though. That basic level of knowledge is expected so a bit of obvious exaggeration (Villa clearly does not "smoke" Torres) here and there is fine.

Gerrard sucks, show me the league titles Gerrard, Modric, you're not Iniesta? Then you suck, now show the world cup medals, show me the league medals, show me the champions league medals modric.

But yeah I honestly believe one day it'll be more than just commonplace where managers select squads based on factors such as the weather. They don't really do it that much now, but like I said once all stats are factored in I can totally see weather playing a role in deciding which players end up on the pitch.

That's because at it's core, supporting a sportsperson/team is itself irrational.

We need to have an emotional attatchment to feel the rush, so we arbitrarily assign one based on geography or some other factor and cling to it blindly as if it means something. In all honesty, if I'd been born 10 miles away, I'd be a Sunderland fan and my life would almost no different.

I'm all for being irrational when it comes to sports makes it more fun, doesn't change the fact that it keeps moving the lines of what is acceptable, sometimes bad decisions are made because the fans demanded it.

We need a good manager to beat Barcelona, hey Fabio take over, we won the league/. But we were expected to win it, you didn't play beautiful football so GTFO, my granny coulda beaten Barca with our squad.
