I've learned at this point that I disagree with a lot of people on The Rock here so I'm to the point where I'm just going to enjoy The Rock being back.

Obviously, if we fundamentally disagree here then there's no point in arguing anymore.

Honestly I think Austin's a better actor than The Rock, generally. Granted he doesn't play nearly as wide a variety of roles that The Rock does so that's probably part of it.

But Rock isn't a bad actor. The Rundown is an A++ movie.

I will be honest, if The Rock wins at Wrestlemania you will never hear the end of it from me.

Although I know Rock will do the job. The guy has never shied away from jobbing for the sake of the business. He never won a WM main event despite appearing in it 3 years in a row, he jobbed to guys like Brock Lesnar, Chris Jericho, and Bill Goldberg. Hell, he jobbed clean-ish to the Hurricane and made people actually interested in him!

I fully expect to Cena beat Rock, Rock shake Cena's hand after the match, and they pose together Hogan/Rock style from WM18.

Now this, I have trouble believing. I've never seen an Austin movie, but I can't see him as being good in films.

I'm trying to think of wrestlers who probably could be good Hollywood actors, and I don't think there are many, really. In the chat we seemed to agree that Edge could probably do it.

But anyway, and I'm just doing this to kill time since it doesn't really matter, but look at Punk's wrists at around 1:05 I guess.

There's nothing written on them. Like I said, it doesn't matter ultimately, but I thought I'd check anyway.

I mean it's like every Arnold Schwarzenegger movie he's the same guy but I'd call him a better actor than the Rock too.

But that's the thing: if you tailor-made a role to a person's strengths, that doesn't make them a good actor so much as a typecast.

A dead body isn't a good actor because it happens to be good at playing a dead body.

Rock actually tried a decent amount of different roles, with limited success, but whenever Arnold tried to move outside his typecast he was atrociously bad. Like Jingle All the Way..

3:10, you can get a pretty clear view of his wrists and see that there's nothing written on it. He just looks at his wrists a lot.

Like I said, it's not a big deal if he did. But it doesn't look like he did. I don't see anything written on either of his wrists.

You know, I wouldn't believe you but the wrist turn is way too deliberate not to be him reading something.

I can even see the writing right afterwards, too.

Acting isn't all about range. It's about being believable and selling the situations in the plot. If you're damn good at your typecast and it's something a bit more complex than a dead body then you're a good actor. Most actors are typecast to some extent. I'd say The Rock has probably played a wider variety of roles than Morgan Freeman but I doubt you're going to have anyone claiming Rock > Morgan Freeman as an actor.

Which is weird cause not once did I notice Rock look at his wrists. I'm going to have to re-watch it and see if I notice it.

Actually, I wouldn't say that Morgan Freeman has played less roles than Rock. He's played a lot, lot, lot more. It might be because everyone sees him as "friendly black guy with a soothing voice" nowadays but he's played to a huge variety.

See, just like Austin is very good at playing Austin like characters, Rock is very good at playing Rock like characters, but Rock can also move outside that role a bit unlike Austin.

Well the thing about it is, The Rock doesn't usually have writing on his wrists. I went and checked his return last year to be sure (and if there's any promo where he'd probably need it, that'd be the one).

So either this is a CM Punk-esque work where they play off of the what the smarks think they know (in this case, the interview where Randy Orton says The Rock has his stuff written for him while John comes up with his own stuff on the fly) with a reference that would fly over most casual fans' heads, or The Rock is not used to doing that kind of promo and needed the notes, or The Rock had a lot of things he wanted to respond to Cena about and wanted to make sure he got it all.

I'd normally automatically assume the first option, but I mean so many sources have been claiming there's backstage heat on The Rock for the past year, and that The Rock has not been happy about it, that the WWE has done some masterful screwing with us if this has all been a work.

I think you're exaggerating how many roles Freeman has played-- I can only think of two, but I could name more if you like

Chris Rock
Gary Sinise
John Wayne
Keanu Reeves
Martin Lawrence
Will Smith
Sylvester Stallone
Tim Allen

I might be forgetting some roles of some of these guys but uhh, yeah, all of these actors at least have several movies where they're basically the same character. There are more, too! Most actors excel at a limited range of roles. I could probably name less actors I've seen play more than three roles well than actors I've seen play less.

To be fair, a lot of those guys you named I don't think of as good actors, either. Especially since some of their schticks and become tired and boring as their career went along. Like Keanu Reeves, I think he's a pretty bad actor, to be honest.

And c'mon, Will Smith played Ali. Will Smith has shown a lot of range beyond AW HELL NAH Smith. Like his role in Pursuit of Happiness. He might have a set perception but he's stepped outside of it and been very good, too.

See, now that Rock's actually here the feud is awesome. Rock's promo pre-Cena was kinda lame, and that crowd that loved him deserved better (What does "Kung Pao B****" even mean!?!), but once Cena came out they were both incredible.

I almost busted a gut when Rock insinuated that Triple H's rise to the top was in any way analogous to his or Austin's or Undertaker's or Foley's though.
