Yeah, I think people are jumping the gun here. I wouldn't be that surprised if the "2" was just part of a dumb name for specialized extra versions.

A direct sequel would be awesome, but no real information about the games are available yet, so people are just believing what they want to believe.

The website also refers to it as "a new adventure" which implies it not being the same adventure as before.

We still probably need to learn more about the game(s) before drawing any conclusions, though.

Yeah, but that's pretty standard marketing talk for a new game. Look at Pokemon Platinum's press release:

Yeah, from what little we've been shown, I think it's likely going to meet our expectations of Grey. Those definitely look like alternate forms (sorry, "formes") of Zekrom and Reshiram, and wouldn't you know it, both of them bear a superficial resemblance to Kyurem.

So....these games are also announced on the US Pokemon.com site (seriously, check), and they're "Pokemon Black Version 2" and "Pokemon White Version 2."

So that could go either way, but maybe they aren't sequels.

I like the Reshiram/Kyurem hybrid... Zekyurem not so much...
Also, what type will those Pokemon be? Since they're alternate forms of Kyurem, I'm guessing Ice/Dragon, but I kind of hope they're the first triple typed Pokemon (Ice/Dragon/Electric and Ice/Dragon/Fire)

They're not going to start making triple-typed Pokémon now, not unless they want to go back to all of the other should've-been-triple-types over the five generations and give them their proper typing. Of course then they'd also be forced to acknowledge that some of the single-types from those same evolutionary lines should've also had additional types. (Example: yeah, it's all well and good to go back and make Vibrava and Flygon Ground/Bug/Dragon, but then you're sort of forced to admit that Trapinch should've been Ground/Bug all along.) There are...a lot of Pokémon that seem like they shouldn't have the type combo that they have, and not just because of the two-type limit.

Changing types is awkward but it's not like they've never done it in the past, even if it was only one line (Magnemite).

It'd be an interesting way to mix things up, but I dunno if GameFreak has the guts to 'retcon' a whole bunch of Pokemon.

It's definitely not doubling the money, but I think a lot of people buy both versions for some bizarre reason.
