Haven't played Revelations or Survivor but agree on a lot of it. I'd have Umbrella Chronicles higher. What about Outbreak(s)?

Outbreaks aren't canon.

If the 'she' that Chris talks about getting everyone kills is Jessica, then I am highly intrigued. They seem to be trying to appease everyone with splitting the action and the horror between the characters so I think it will either be amazing or completely miss the mark by trying to appeal to both fanbases. In the first game of the post-Wesker (probably) series they are pretty much going to have to reinvent the wheel, so this will give us a feeling of how the series is going to go from here. If they manage to tie Revelations completely into RE6 though, I'll be a very happy man.

Wait, RE6 takes place after 5 after all? Significantly after, no less? Then what is Chris so upset about, his partner is all fine and dandy!

Revelations has done the best job so far of blending new-style gameplay with old-school feel. The title is a blatant lie storywise, but that's alright if it ties into RE6 the way I expect it to. It does give some pretty job of filling in backstory on the BSAA if nothing else.

The bosses are great, the story is great, the gameplay is great. And on top of all that Raid Mode is awesome as well and extends the life of the game by at least 20 hours.

Yeah it was confirmed to be 14 years after Raccoon City fell. 10 years after the Raccoon Trials.

It's up there. If it had solid ties to the series as a whole right now it could make a push for the top, but right now it's rather self-contained. It still has the potential to make a push to the top if things play out the way they seem though.

Hmmm. It's inferior to REMake in just about every way including canonicity , but it does have dat nostalgia factor. And when I rank REMake I tend to think of it as the best of both games.

I just ask because I have not actually played REmake (never owned a GC), and was wondering how much better you thought it was. I love the original though, strong nostalgia factor there.

Oh. Well that changes everything.

If REMake never existed, RE1 would be a lot higher. The things is, REMake does everything so much better it's astounding. Nostalgia is the only thing that keeps RE1 even that high with the existence of REMake. It's amazing how much gaming changed in just those four years from PSX to GC.

I'd say it's worth it nowadays just to buy or rent a GC for REMake. It's just one of those things that's really impossible to convey without you being able to see it for yourself.

I was going to be all "HERE COMES THE FIREWERKS" because I thought people were going to be up in arms disagreeing but I guess everyone else is ok with that ranking. Personally I feel that, yes the 4th Survivor is great, but it doesn't propel the antiquated 2 THAT far up.

Dead Aim's canonicity (thanks Dante!) is uncertain. There is nothing else in the series that ever references it, but there is no word of god that it isn't canon either (like with Gaiden). Most people just choose to ignore it.

Survivor on the otherhand is directly referenced in RE0's opening ) so it is without a doubt part of the series.

And since we're talking about it canon, the Outbreak games as a whole are not canon, but portions of their stories are. "Desperate Times" shows how Marvin ended up the way he did, and the Tyrant R shows up in the canon scenario "Death's Door" in UC, so at least those parts fit in. It's very well that most of the Outbreak stuff happens, but all the bad endings comes to pass where no one escapes the city.

I know I have posted this like 50 times already, but outbreak seriously was such an amazing idea that I wish they would try to do something with now that gaming has advanced technologically enough to make it more feasible. IMO, Outbreak was only a failure because the ps2 just didn't have the technology to make it as good as it could have been.

I enjoyed the Outbreak games, even though they were frustrating as hell. I would love to see an Outbreak 3 done well, but with ORC now I doubt we'll see it. (Or contrary, if ORC does well Capcom does love money.)

I have ORC preordered, but am keeping my expectations low for sanity reasons. But I get to run in a pretty Raccoon City as a USS member and hunt down existing characters. Sounds fun to me!
