Depends on how much you hate Jar Jar. I can actually tolerate him, so Phantom Menace is better to me. Either way, they're by far the bottom two of the series.

There's pretty much nothing I can agree Attack of the Clones is better than. Natalie Portman and Hayden Christensen make it unwatchable-- worse than Crystal Skull and Phantom Menace easily.

Though actually if you remove all of the scenes that have only them in it it might be decent-- I'd love to watch an edited version of the movie.

but they are all bad. Phantom Menace has the advantage of having the best aesthetic of the films, with more real sets and less green screen as well as more varied/interesting locations. imo anyway.

attack of the clones is the worst star wars movie by far, honestly if you get rid of that and jar jar the new trilogy isn't even that terrible(maybe even good if you find a better actor for anakin)

Phantom Menace had the advantage of not having a stupid romance interweaved into the story because canon demanded it, so it's the best out of the prequel trilogy for me. Revenge of the Sith was better but... damn, every time that romance came up...

My mind tends to blank out during the Anakin parts except when he's slaughtering the Raiders and the final battle in Attack of the Clones so I actually enjoy the movie a lot. Phantom Menace had the best fight in the series and a strong first 5 min but that's all it has IMO. I don't hate Jar Jar and little Anakin but I did find them and by association 75% of the movie boring. I know it's not fair to block out huge parts of one movie and not the other but Clones needed it more as the parts that weren't tainted were pretty good.

I give 6 a ton of credit for the Luke/Vader fight, though I admit the Jawas are terrible. Anyone who says RotS is better than any OT movie is wrong, it's only not as bad as PM and AotC.

I just recently watched through the prequel trilogy again and I can say for sure that they all just suck. There's no point ranking them. RotS is obviously the one that sucks the least, but by a negligible amount.

Phantom Menace puts me to sleep. Every single time I watch it. The Duel of the Fates isn't even that great. The music is of course, but the actual fight isn't as good as I used to think. AotC at least has the sonic grenade things which were kinda cool, then the battle scene in the arena was alright. Other than that it's pretty much exactly the same level of horrible crap that TPM is.

The only good thing in RotS is Order 66, which is actually a great scene. Because there's no dialogue. Just emotions actually being portrayed correctly along with John f***ing Williams.

Yoda is a 900-year-old Jedi who was responsible for basically training entire generations (hell, entire centuries) of Force users. He has almost a millennium of experience under his belt of presumably traveling the galaxy and enhancing his skills in the Force. Random people like Count Dooku and Mace Windu should not be equal to him in fighting ability. Palpatine you could maybe make an argument for, since he's an all-powerful Sith Lord and all, but random Jedi Masters? Come on now.

That and it really undercuts Yoda's entire training message to Luke about how "size matters not," which is kind of an integral part of his character. He's this little dude who doesn't need to overcompensate for his size, because he can use his mind and find ways around it. When he pulls out a little dwarf-sized lightsaber and starts hopping around like a frog? The hell IS that?

I thought the whole point was that Yoda had grown arrogant (as had the Jedi Order in general) over the years, and that the defeat at the hands of the Sith was supposed to be a humbling experience for Yoda. Hence why he abandons using a lightsaber and has a different philosophy on the world

At least, that's always the interpretation I got.

No. Lucas betrayed almost everything that the Original Trilogy stood for when he directed the prequels. He used to care about hard work, determination, and making things as good as they could be. Then he shifted and became all about special effects and fan service. His intentions with having Yoda use a lightsaber was purely because it was "what the people wanted."

Even though it wasn't what we wanted. Nothing in the prequels was what we wanted. Lucas is senile.

But I honestly never got that out of them and don't remember any actual evidence in the movies to suggest this. Weren't the exact words out of Palpatine's mouth "Your arrogance blinds you" and Yoda was cracking jokes with a smug look on his face during the first half of the fight.

I mean, I agree in the sense that Lucas didn't do a great job conveying this point, but there is some evidence here or there that Yoda was an arrogant prick.

People can blame Hayden Christensen all they want, because yeah, he does suck as an actor, but there is so much wrong with the prequels outside of bad acting.

Terrible, terrible scripts, from the dialogue, to the pacing, to the logic, to just everything that was written on those pieces of paper. Terrible directing. Jar Jar Binks. Frequent use of children in acting roles. Way too strong a focus on merchandising. Fight scenes with no emotional value whatsoever.

You could teach a class on how not to make movies just by playing the prequels.

I have never ever blamed Hayden Christensen for how bad the prequels are. Even good actors like Liam Neeson and Samuel L. Jackson fall incredibly flat in these movies. Everything, absolutely everything, that is wrong with the prequels should be blamed on George Lucas. And maybe the people around him who didn't have the balls to stand up to him.
