The new season of Survivor is on its way next week - 5 days until the fireworks take off. Figured I may as well get the new discussion topic going!

Jeff put up his cast assessment video just yesterday, if you haven't seen it:


Otherwise, I'm looking forward to this season. I like the 'one beach' twist. I like how they're providing no clues for the HII's. I like how reward challenges are finally back into the groove of things. And I love how RI is done and away with (for now).

Hopefully we'll be having a good, exciting season ahead of us.

I visited the spoilers section and they have no spoilers. All of it is speculation. The lack of spoilers has been tempting me to start another analysis topic.

Does the picture posted have spoilers? I usually watch Survivor after the season over, South Pacific was the first one in a while where I went in not knowing the winner, trying to make it two in a row now.

Also, just watched the assessment video, cast now seems more likeable than they were just from looking at pictures!

I really don't want to be spoiled this season, because so far all the cast seems unlikable to me, so surprising gameplay is probably going to be the only aspect I enjoy this season. I have never liked the seasons with virtually entirely unlikable casts as much. Though they usually have a couple great moments. (fiji, gabon, thailand)

historically men vs women seasons have actually had some really good results from it

amazon was classic, and vanuatu was so epic with the annihilation of the men only to have chris end up winning it all because of the infighting.

Noticed a clip of the first challenge of the season. It contains a balance beam. What a f***in' surprise. Funny how Amazon and Vanuatu had one in its starting challenge too. What other seasons had balance beams in the first challenge besides them?

but it intentionally sets up the hilarious "men get cocky and macho but lose TO SOME GIRLS because the challenge isn't about punching things" storyline, making the editors have a really easy time

I haven't done much pre-show watching this season. I watched the one player intro video, but no one looks all that great to me. I think I'll save my initial ranking for after the premier tonight (!!!). I was going to join the fantasy league, but as I was setting it up I realised I had to clue who anyone was or what they were like.

It's usually a good thing for me when the cast doesn't strike me as 'great' pre-season. Anytime I've liked a cast the season has gone south.
