thing is that's a shame because they haven't done a single bad game yet and have had some pretty weird stuff done too. their work is consistently damn good. when your team is made up of Clover though how couldn't it be.

oh I haven't actually played Resistance. I guess if those are bad that strikes Insomniac off the list. besides that they've made a bad handheld R&C and that's it AFAIK. Spyro 1-3 and the rest of the Ratchet series are all really good.

jak 3 was damn good of a game, if a bit unusual. it was by and large a platformer with guns but really, really focused on guns.

not shooting though. just guns. which made it very different than the norm.

Oh man, Treasure was a good answer. I can't think of any awful games they've made, although admittedly I haven't played a lot of the japanese-only ones they've done.

I thought of Rare for a moment, but then I remembered they still exist post-N64.

the worst treasure game i can think of is bangai-o spirits for the DS, and even that was pretty good. they don't go outside their genre but they are damn good in it.

I was thinking Game Freak, but after checking Wikipedia I see they've mad a bunch of stuff I've never heard of, so maybe they've got some stinkers too

I don't know of a single bad game made by Technos Japan, but they're long gone I believe.

I've actually played quite a few of them and never disliked any. I haven't played the soccer one though but I can't imagine it being bad.

Double Dragon 3 isn't a terrible game. I know some reviewers like AVGN will claim it is but that's mostly because of the difficulty factor, and I will admit the game is very unfair but it's not terrible. I enjoyed it myself, though not as much as 2.

I don't understand where the Nintendo hate comes from tbh. They have made a ton of amazing games this gen. Significantly more than during any other gen. Maybe the absolute best from other gens is better than the absolute best here but as a whole this is the best Nintendo has ever been.

Intelligent Systems instantly comes to mind, I have absolute, unyielding faith in everything they produce.

I'm not as experienced with Bioware's catalogue, but I certainly couldn't say anything bad on that front.

Blizzard need to kick Activision as fast as possible because they ruin them totally

Blizzard started down that path way before Activision, there's no evidence Activision is forcing them to do anything. Someone posted a really long article about it recently, maybe they'll post it again.

And that only has to do with their business practices. Their games have all been good, and their dedication to balancing the games with constant updates is admirable. If you want to find a company that has

1) Made almost all good games
2) Doesn't do sucky business things
3) is big enough that they could do sucky business things

you're only going to find one company, and that's Valve.

The Starcraft 2 expansions aren't going to be full price. They will most likely be $40.

Who cares? It is better than what happened with Diablo 2.

I don't play WoW but the Panda guy was the coolest character in Warcraft III so an expansion based around them sounds awesome.

Ok, IMO there should be some ground rules.

1. You can start counting from a certain point. Most 30-year-old studios have some weaker titles from back when they were newbies.

2. Closing counts against a studio. If a studio closes, something went wrong in the way it was run or funded.

3. Stop counting games that weren't made at the studio. Metroid Prime Hunters is NST, not Retro. SW:TOR is Bioware Austin, not Bioware.

4. Not releasing games isn't exactly succeeding. It's all fine and good to say Team Ico has never made a bad game, but they've made two games, both on PS2. It's been seven years since they released a game. For the record, 3D Realms spent 13 years not releasing Duke Nukem Forever. More than about four years between releases is usually not the sign of a healthy studio. But I could be wrong; maybe The Last Guardian will come out and be the best game ever; I have no idea what the current status of that project is.
