mnkboy907 posted... Wow, the gym lackeys have very varied teams. Just the first one had a Mantime, Honchkrow, Togekiss, Charizard, and Crobat. I guess I shouldn't be surprised; Flying is the most diverse type in the game. Just because of how diverse this gym is, I think I'll list every trainer's roster. Number 2 has a Swoobat, Drifblim, Staraptor, Tropius, and Altaria (the Staraptor was poised to possibly kill Hydras, but I remembered right before selecting an attack that it was capable of using Close Combat, and sure enough it used it as I switched to barrel).
To barrel? GTM would be completely immune to Close Combat and it has Thunderpunch for super-effectiveness!
Number 3 has a Chatot, Sigilyph, Unfezant, Scyther, and Delibird. Number 4 has a Jumpluff, Xatu, Noctowl, Ledian, and Pelipper. Weird, it's like the teams are getting weaker as I go along. Lastly, Number 5 has a Swellow, Archeops, Farfetch'd, Aerodactyl, and Pidgeot. Okay, that guy stepped it up. Kinda surprised no one had a Gyarados.
Stepped it up? Did Farfetch'd get a boost or something? Because I seem to remember it usually being a joke...
Oh man, Skyla time. I'm not really sure how to position my team...
Well I ulimately decide on Yoshi, Hydras, and Stan, and she starts with level 54 Mandibuzz, Skarmory, and Braviary. Braviary and Mandibuzz start things off with Brave Birds that reduce Yoshi to nearly nothing. Skarmory then gets a Steel Wing that really hurts Stan. A Discharge and Strength leave Skarmory paralyzed and at near death, and another Strength gets Braviary to just under half.
I hatch a plan that will hopefully kill all three of Skyla's Pokemon while keeping Yoshi and Stan alive. It doesn't quite work... Braviary and Mandibuzz went down, but not before the latter got off another attack on Yoshi. =/
Yoshi, the female Flygon Lv. 26 - Lv. 60
ExTha replaces her, while Skyla sends out a level 56 Gliscor and Archeops. Thankfully Gliscor is on the same side as ExTha. To start the turn, I switch Stan for barrel. An Ice Punch from ExTha doesn't one-shot Gliscor, but a Gear Grind does one-shot Archeops. Gliscor and Archeops both got off an Earthquake this turn, but the damage isn't significant. Swanna is the final replacement.
A second Ice Punch finishes off Gliscor, and unfortunately for me, Hydras doesn't go before Swanna like I was hoping. It uses Brine, and barrel goes down... A Discharge weakens both Skarmory and Swanna (and paralyzes the latter). GTM is brought out.
barrel, the female Hippowdon Lv. 20 - Lv. 59
The next turn ends the match. ExTha weakens Skarmory further with Strength, Hydras kills Swanna with Spark, and GTM finishes Skarmory with a Thunderpunch.
Damn, losing barrel is one thing, but I really had high hopes for keeping Yoshi throughout the rest of the game. I really need to get some good Pokemon in the upcoming catching spree.
Ouch. Rough battle. Nice strategy, though, using Discharge with a Ground-type on your side...actually could've had Stan in the center hitting all three if you'd given the other two spots to barrel and Yoshi.

mnkboy907 posted... Okay I got tired of waiting, so I went and caught Articuno on Route 17. knuxnole is a friend from outside this board, and he said Twist Mountain.
I think I can make it to those latter two without going through any puddles in Icirrus City, at any rate.
Hmm...probably Dragonspiral Tower (Outside). The poison type hasn't been much good in ages, if it ever was, and just about every non-poison type in the Icirrus City/Moor of Icirrus area is pretty derpy (although Gastrodon is cool). There's some decent stuff on Route 18, too, but I'm just afraid I'd get Throh or Sawk. So yeah, Dragonspiral Tower, I'd be happy with anything except for Druddigon.

I want to go for true Nuzlocke style and say flip a coin or use a random number generator or something to choose where I come from. Or just pick whichever place you feel like going to. Increase the random factor even more!

We clasped our hands, our hands in praise of a conquerors right to tyranny
Don't feel like typing anything up yet, so I'll just say that Articuno is a Wailmer and knuxnole is a Cryogonal. Both will be staying in the box.
You'd think that since Cryogonal's movepool is so atrocious, it would have all kinds of cool new moves. Nope. Its moveset wasn't changed at all. Sure, they boosted its Defense from 30 to 60 and Sp. Attack from 95 to 100, but when your only two usable attacks are Ice Beam and Flash Cannon...
Just about anything else in Twist Mountain would've been better.

I remember the "good old days" of spending eighteen billion hours trying to encounter a Cryonogal when I played White. Damn things just would not show up.
--
Mistake you're making - overlooking the fact that we might not want to be saved.
...can't believe it didn't get any moveset changes. Defense boosted from 30 to 60, Sp. Attack boosted from 95 to 100.
Outside Dragonspiral Tower, I got...
Tsunami, the male Deerling! Lv. 46 Hardy nature Serene Grace Dragonspiral Tower (Outside) Somewhat vain.
...Sawsbuck is pretty cool. Attack boosted from 100 to 115, Speed from 95 to 105. When I gave the list of things that could be caught there, I was going off of the doubles grass. I didn't realize I couldn't get there yet. The singles grass has the exact same selection, only unevolved, so it's still all the same.
...oh. Sp. Attack was boosted from 73 to 103, but uh... yeah. Well, it can learn Ice Beam, so maybe I'll raise her as fodder if I don't feel that prepared for Iris. Maybe.
In Icirrus City, I got...
Naomi, the male Toxicroak! Lv. 46 Quiet nature Poison Touch Icirrus City Alert to sounds.
...kick ass. This'll be replacing Poka as the new sixth party member. Also, the trend of people getting their opposite gender continues, as in a sea of females, both the girls got male Pokemon.
In the Moor of Icirrus, I got...
ShadowHalo, the female Stunfisk! Lv. 48 Quiet nature Static Moor of Icirrus Good endurance.
...this actually isn't terrible. Stunfisk has grown on me a little since Cilan caught one in the anime, its Sp. Attack was boosted from 81 to 101, and it now learns Earth Power. Aside from being super slow, it's actually a solid Pokemon now. I won't be using her now, but Halo may see some use in the future if things go south.
On Route 18, I got...
Maniac, the female Tropius! Lv. 45 Impish nature Chlorophyll Route 18 Proud of its power.
...this is okay too. Tropius also got some nice buffs.
Also has new level up moves like Dragon Dance, Leaf Blade, and Outrage.
Lastly, at the P2 Laboratory, I got...
Tombolo, the male Kingler! Lv. 43 Bold nature Hyper Cutter P2 Laboratory Highly curious.
...not bad. Kingler's a decent Pokemon, and if ExTha dies and I need another physical Water-type, I'll be all over this.
Overall, it's a pretty decent haul. Tsunami, Naomi, ShadowHalo, Maniac, and Tombolo are all usable. And on top of that, from fighting most of the trainers I encountered, five of my Pokemon are almost where I want them to be to fight Brycen.

Alright, done training and got everyone up to level 65. After this, there won't exactly be many move changes, but while training, Stan learned Crunch, I thought Hydras Rock Slide, GTM got Strength and Shadow Punch, Suor learned Hydro Pump, and Naomi picked up Bulldoze, Poison Jab, and Strength.
There's no Plasma shenanigans or anything else this time, so I head straight for the gym. It's filled with Ice types and my party is filled with Strength users. That makes for a wonderful combination. Well to be fair, some of them do hit pretty hard. A Weavile almost killed Naomi, and a Jynx got a nasty critical on GTM.
But still, lol Ice-types. I was going to give a blow-by-blow play of the battle with Brycen, but it was just too one-sided. The other battles all had some give and take, but this was fairly easy. A whole bunch of Strengths and Gear Grinds was all it took.
Heading back outside, Cheren and Bianca talk about their teenage angst until Brycen comes out and displays his superior ninja vision. Turns out the Shadow Triad were perving and trying to catch me alone. HMMMM.
Anyway, I've been summoned to Dragonspiral Tower, so I suppose I should go there or something.
Team: ExTha, the male Floatzel, lv. 65; Cold Storage; Crunch, Ice Punch, Surf, Strength Stan, the male Rampardos, lv. 66; Nacrene City; Bulldoze, Zen Headbutt, Strength, Crunch Hydras, the genderless Klinklang, lv. 66; Chargestone Cave; Rock Slide, Shift Gear, Spark, Gear Grind GTM, the female Dusknoir, lv. 67; Celestial Tower; Thunderpunch, Strength, Will-o-Wisp, Shadow Punch Suor, the female Jellicent, lv. 66; Driftveil City; Surf, Hydro Pump, Energy Ball, Hex Naomi, the male Toxicroak, lv. 66; Icirrus City; Bulldoze, Cross Chop, Poison Jab, Strength

mnkboy907 posted... Okay, I got bored so I just caught Halo in the Moor of Icirrus, removing any choice for the next two, which I caught on Route 18 and P2 Laboratory.
Just a quick rundown of my new haul.
On Route 17, I got...
Articuno, the female Wailmer! Lv. 39 Relaxed nature Thick Fat Route 17 Likes to relax.
...would've preferred Corsola. This'll probably stay in the box forever.

...both of the girls? You do know that I'm a guy, right?
...Eh, I guess I can't fault you too much; you're hardly the first to mistake me for a girl, and I do have some stereotypically female online habits, such as writing fanfiction. Not just internet, either; I get it a lot on the telephone for some reason, though never in person (well, not since I was a baby, anyway; apparently I was a very "pretty" baby and no amount of dressing me in masculine outfits seemed to help curb strangers from mistaking me for a baby girl. But that's irrelevant.)
But, yeah. Guy.

Woo, you may very well be the last name I need, as I don't think I'm going to continue on past the E4. I really don't feel like grinding up to level 100 to take on Alder, Cynthia, and Miyamoto.

I think only Elesa and Brycen changed. Elesa gave Wild Charge instead of Volt Switch.
Well, I don't remember all of the originals. I know Work Up, Retaliate, and Dragon Tail are the same, but do Burgh, Clay, and Skyla give U-Turn, Bulldoze, and Acrobatics in the originals?

That was boosted to 50BP in this, but it's still crap. Well, you get it in the Dreamyard, so it's good enough for Bugs until they learn Signal Beam/Bug Buzz I guess.

Chasing Team Plasma into Dragonspiral Tower, I quickly encounter...
Han, the genderless Golett! Lv. 50 Lax nature Klutz (ew, I can't give it a Lucky Egg if I decide to use it) Dragonspiral Tower (Inside) Mischievous
...definitely usable. I have so many Ghosts now, maybe I should've tried for a Horsea instead of Frillish. Oh well, I also have a Gible, so eh. Anyway, I make it into the next room and encounter a wild Golurk. Woo. >_>
Past a room with a lot of jumps, I encounter a buttload of Plasma goons that need to learned some manners. For some reason, one of them took the time to learn Cheren's name. Okay then.

I fought a bunch more Plasma goons, and I've gotta say, they're starting to expand into some better Pokemon. Sure, they still use the crappy Liepard and Watchog here and there, but the final group of four that ambushed me used some cool stuff like Krookodile, Scrafty, and Dusknoir.
Anyway, I reached the top and after N summmoned Reshiram, he continued to tell me exactly what I need to do in order to stop him. I'm beginning to think he doesn't actually want to go through with his plan, but is maybe being forced to by an abusive Ghetsis. N telling me how to stop him is like a suicidal teenager crying out for help.
Before he could give away too much information, though, Reshiram swooped down and stole him away.
Back outside, Alder told us that the Zekrock might be in the Relic Castle. At that point, Cheren learned that the true meaning of strength is using your power to force others to do what you say. With his newfound purpose, he headed for the Relic Castle, hoping to find the Zekrock so he could have the legendary all for himself.
Okay no, that's not what happened, but it's much more interesting, so I'll pretend it did.
And in case anyone actually noticed that my posts tend to switch between first and third person, it's because sometimes I type while I'm playing, and other times I type the updates after the fact.
