Yes, to stay into contact with people who are abroad.
It's much more fun to write a letter and not everyone uses social media or is online all the time.

The only time I ever used email with friends was in like 7th grade, a good 8 years ago. Now email is just family stuff like birthday lists and get togethers.

I don't believe I've ever used email socially. Before the facesbook it was AIM and before that it was being a small child.

I do. When I was in college the entire school communicated through email - everything from formal invitations to casual "wanna get wasted?" messages were all via email. So I've kinda kept that going with my college friends. Most everyone else I'll just text, though.

Sometimes, yeah. I prefer it to Facebook, mainly because Facebook sends stuff to my e-mail anyway because I'm not on it much (I'm one of those people who spend 5-10 minutes a day on it and rarely more than that). People generally know that the best way to contact me is through e-mail (and now text, because I finally got a texting plan last year). AIM is good too, since I have Trillian open on my PC and phone.

This. E-mail's only useful for me now to verify accounts/changed account info, and if I need to send a school assignment.

Anything that needs a reply-all I use email for, since texting doesn't really have that option and most people I know don't use social media extensively.
