I always hate how important messages are always interrupted for narrative convenience. Like, I know episodes and movies and books and stuff would be about 90% shorted, but it would be nice for this trope to be subverted sometime...

Had a feeling the information about the time spells would be a paradox. She only knew because she tole her past self and remembered her future self telling her. There had to have been an original timeline where she did not know but discovered on her own, or else the information came from literally nowhere.

Repeat of the opening and stupid laughing at stupid spike. Meh.

Bit of a mediocre ending, but the rest of the episode was nice. Pretty standard time travel tropes overall. Always a delight to see Twilight Sparkle in obsessive mode. Still best pony <3

No comment about how no one on the sneaking mission took Twilight seriously? That was seriously one of the best parts of the episode, especially when the guard just happily opened the wing for her.

That was certainly a nice moment, and if I had made the big boss comparison I probably would have commented more on the sneaking mission.

I felt it might have been too casually subverted, but it still played out nice. The guard opening the door was icing on the cake.

I also liked them running out of 'time' before the 'disaster'. Really, most moments of this episode fit together like well oiled gears. :3

That would've sealed it. Right now it's just a vague reference to spy movies... but with the box, it would be 100% metal gear. PoO had the hay disguise which also could've been a reference to MGS:PW hay box (which was in turn a reference to Assassin's Creed), or it could've just been a hay box. I want some solid MGS references!

Twilight knowing where the time spell was isn't actually a paradox, because she DIDN'T know. She checked the whole library for a time stopping spell and only the Starswirl wing was left. And even then, Pinkie ended up finding the time travel spell (not what they were even looking for) at random, which is the only reason Twilight knew where it was.

The time paradox is why she was so worried that she traveled back the first time, but stable time loops are always like that.
