Naruto ED 19: place to Try - One good thing about all these long running shows is that it is quite rare that they'll have a bad OP or ED (not *as* rare for an ED mind you, but still). it's always good stuff, and this is no exception. it's just also not anything exceptional either. it's rare you'll find them be under a 6, but it's also rare to find 'em be over an 8. instead it just fits comfortably in the 'this is above average but can be skipped' range. also known as a 7/10.
Take it Over - 5/10. the same is not true for everything else on the single. it definitely isn't here. right here is a track that can be skipped entirely. it's not bad, it's just not good and entirely skippable. couldn't find myself caring for this at all.
Life is Such a Danger Flight - 6/10. man, this single is entirely underwhelming. at least this is the kind that'll grow on you due to engrish, but it's... really just nothing impressive overall. catchy however, so they did somethign right with it.

Naruto OP 10: wondermole - this isn't the OP, they made it the 2nd song. a 4 track single eh? hm. ....what the hell is this. it's a guy with his face away from the mic singing with an acoustic guitar. if i wanted a song with this quality i'd record it myself. it's not even a good song. 3/10.
newsong - here we go, much better. ...O_o did Naruto turn to a more slice of life show or something. what is this. the song is just... okay, youtube. ...does not have the full version on it. okay then.
i have no idea if that's actually the OP video or not, but the song is that. the full version's better, but it's certainly not screaming shounen anime to me. it's also not screaming 'i need this song' either. or even wanting it. worst of all, it's not even a good soft song and i'm a sucker for those. net result for mixing too much, a 4/10.
Fuka: here's a funny one. going by the merits of the song in its first 3 minutes i would barely give this a mention at all. however everything from 3:30 starts to make you think it'll be good before realizing NOPE. which gets me to the problem this song has: it is over 5 minutes. it starts with the crap the 1st song did. then it starts sounding like a sequel to the 2nd. then it gives you 2 minutes of a gentle guitar repeating the same sequence for 2 minutes and some stuff in the background to make it interesting after the 1st. 3/10.
Hatsumei: not many singles do 4 songs. but it's something else when none of them are below average. i'm already eating my words from commenting it's rare. this better not be a goddamn trend as i'm getting to bleach in a few. as for what this song gets? a 4/10. for most of it, the track is generic as hell, uneventful, and nothing worth caring about. man, i hope these guys are better in the lyrics i dont' understand because it sure as hell ain't in the sound.
single average: 3.5. really hope i don't get one of these again this time around.

Just Awake - as if to respond to my complaints this song comes out screaming. no seriously, there's a lot of screaming in it and genre confusion. for a minute it's techno-ish, then metal, then a piano, then more synth, and i end up slightly confused as to what in the hell i heard.
but i do know that i heard it again after it was done. then again after that.
then found it on youtube to share because this is seriously one confused piece of music. i like the OP more (departure), but i can't say i dislike this. the name of the group is interesting too - Fear, and Loathing in Las Vegas. wha? honestly, i can't hate a track that's as messed up as that which gets me to repeat it. can't say i really LIKE it either, but i'll listen to it comfortably. 6.5/10.
Break Out Your Stained Brain - okay, as if it wasn't clear, this is screamo. did not expect to run into this. between this song and SO YOU WANNA RIDE MY CHOCOBO i question if Japan just discovered it's doable to pull this music off in video games, because while this is 100% screamo and rock, a bit before the 3 minute mark it's pulling a chiptune for the background, then a piano shortly after. unfortunately it's not as bizarre because it ends on that note, so yeah. a 5/10. have heard better. have heard worse. at least was interesting.
average: 5.75. but only 2 tracks? what a letdown. <__<;
Bleach ED 29: Re-pray - oh a nice soft song. good ballad track. this is more in line with what i expect (though HxH is certainly ambitious as hell) and it's not bad either. a nice, sweet ballad to go after a bunch of people got their asses kicked and/or PLOT POINTS of how the lead's father's uncle is the secret villain who was REALLY under mind control from his wife's child in a fit of jealousy. or something. you know, shounen plots. anyway, this song continued playing while i typed this and it wasn't offensive. it just wasn't catchy either. 6/10.
Sabishikute Nemure nai Yoru wa - too long to type, C&P'd. 'meh' describes this well. it's soft, it's nice, it's something i've heard a billion times and it wasn't that good the 1st time either. 4/10.
Poker Face - i thought it was a similarly named track, but... no.
it's a jazzier engrishier version of gaga's poker face. and i like it. partially for its merits as it's a pretty nice rendition, partially because i was laughing during the middle of it. 6.5/10
average: 5.5/10
these are not good runs i'm hearing right now. god i can't wait until the pirates single comes out. two left in this runthrough (K-On's seems to be inserts and their actual songs, which may or may not be the movie's soundtrack. never saw that).
if either kill me baby or the papa one are better i might have to drown it out with k-on music. or synchrogazer on loop. but the former's more insulting because it'd probably be better.

i believe there were 7 tracks on this. 2 are the standard karaoke, 2 are the OP/ED. the remaining two... are a version of the song with less background stuff? and... even crazier? with even more baby killing. it is trippy stuff to hear this. i'd halfway think it's a problem with my computer but... no, that's just how the "song" goes. so if you thought people were taking drugs when you heard the original, trust me, they didn't take enough. this version was definitely drug induced.
original KILL ME BABY: 6/10. yeah, i like it due to its absurdity. only reason it's not higher is because i honestly can't be listening to this on a regular basis. a 6 is as high as i'm gonna go on that scale. itss placement can also be known as 'i will listen to this if it comes up on my playlist and i will likely enjoy it due to its absurdity. however i would never go out of my way to listen to this, ever. and whether i like it or not entirely depends on my mood.'
remixed: 2/10 too crazy, to the point where it goes from painful to no really it's actually painful to hear this, not just a figure of speech anymore. but if you're on speed or something you might as well consider this a 10 or something.
original Futari no Kimochi: 4/10 while KILL ME BABY is an exercise is insanity, this is just kinda goofy and not really anything.
remixed: 4/10 opposite from the other remix, things were tuned down. it's now almost, almost normal. and that's no good. but in some ways it's better as a result.
karaokes don't really do anything for me in either direction 99% of the time, this one included. the drama cd-esqued line saying something about a CD's on sale doesn't matter much to me.
average: 4/10
Papa Koto ED: two tracks + karaoke versions. Coloring - this is the ED theme and... my god. it doesn't suck. it's actually catchy. it's synth to high hell, but it's catchy. why. why is this something i have to consider it's the best thing i listened to. not cool. the problem really isn't even the first half of the song - for the first 2:30 of the song you have a simple tune. then the bridge kicks in (there's a bridge in this song that's distinguishable? goddamn it's basic pop music 101!). it's good. hate to admit that, but Papa ties for 1st here. 7/10
Monochrome - ....welps. from the first 30 seconds, i knew this was today's winner. you get hooked half a minute in and it continues to improve. this isn't as good as fish girl's monochrome, but very little is. this is still pretty great on its own right, and i'm actually going to listen to this on a regular basis now. this unfortunately will guarantee that i'll continue to watch the show for another ep or two. ....oh who am i kidding i'll be watching the show anyway for the kodomo no jikan ripoff and sobbing girl. 8/10.
average: 7.5/10, and my soul.

Finally watched Nisemonogatari episodes 2 and 3. I personally didn't like either as much as the first episode, but they were still wonderful. Karen and Tsukihi are amazing and I loved their conversations. Mayoi's was really awesome too. The rest were great as well, though none of them were as amazing. The plot is finally starting to kick in and I'm excited for how this arc is going to play out. I'm also a little bummed though that the whole thing's only going to be 11 episodes. How many arcs are there going to be anyway?
I'm also sad that we're not going to get an ED on the same level as Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari. :(

Welp another week down. Milky Holmes is great, so is Nisemongatari. I'm also impressed how much Another is actually turning out decent, although it did minorly piss me off they used like 5 minutes to tell us something we already found out in episode 1.
Also in Rinne no Lagrange ep3, I like how Madoka just nonchalantly saves the town like "oh no a vending machine is heading to my friends lalala"
Kill Me Baby had a weak episode, but it'll likely be a lockin potential integrity for the season. Speaking of which, Mouretsu, so do you move so slowly, pirates, has been dropped after 3 episodes.

Episode 15 of Persona 4 was seriously amazing. I think that's the single greatest episode of any anime I have ever seen so far. So much top tier material.

yes the curry rice song is stupid and it is one of those instances where i am glad i don't understand the lyrics because if i did i'd cry. instead i can listen to it and wonder why Yui is saying she's peeing in Spapanese? Japanish? dammit is there no good spanish/japanese hybrid. well anyway that + engrish makes me think a song about curry rice suggests that it is party time when you pee, which is a theme i can support. also you should eat a cookie. and she wants you to give her bees, however immediately after that she realizes that she asked for bees and goes NONONONO.

WHY ARE THERE TWO SONGS ABOUT R-- know what, screw it. this song is about Gohan. not rice, but from DBZ. you see, she's a fangirl of his. she'll even count down to just say his name. also yui totally swoons over Gohan's appearing. but Gohan's not the only one she likes, she's also a fan of yajurobi's mom (who she affectionally nicknames yakisoba), tentacle monsters (or 'takoyaki'), Gon (she just felt like mentioning other characters from different series, but it's okay), but still likes Gohan the most. and she's apparently getting wet or something because she sorta moans then goes ONE MORE TIME before going into 'i must sing loudly in a voice that is like screaming but not.' also when she climaxes she yells SKY HIGH to indicate she is done. that or wants to be banged while flying with gohan. either or.
and if anyone disagrees with this analysis i remind you the singer did the best Chala Head Chala ever.
3rd song on CD 1 (i was frightened until i saw CD2 is only 2 tracks - more later) is Mio singing. title, Samidare 20 Love. i have no idea what that is supposed to mean. perhaps i should see the k-on movie. i mean it'll be local-- oh wate bandai died WHOOPS. oh well if you want K-On! in English you'll have one chance to get the 1st show's set or hope Funimation, NIS, Vic, or Sentai pick it up. ...actually i wonder what they did to the K-On songs.... hm. i may need to track this down now. Haruhi ones were changed... oh right. there's a song i was listening to.
i just kinda lost track because it wasn't offensive at all. Mio had the best voice by a lot, and while her songs are silly, they also aren't about rice. silly stuff? sure. but not f'ing rice. it's a pretty nice track without understanding it. which is the best i can ask for here.
Track 4: 2 lines in and i hear she likes rice. this is U&I, so if you weren't offended by the lyrics, the title will. then again normally the title is a good warning in these things and this makes the 3rd Yui song while also being a song about food. notably rice early on. this is also the least offensive song. of hers. perhaps that was the point of track 1 and 2, make you go 'well at least this isn't those. it seems more normal too. actually i remember them writing this song in the 2nd season and remember not hating it, so... yeah. nothing still at the level of don't say lazy (which is great) but this is still better than most stuff characters sing. ....and then you realize it's 4:38 while the other two songs of hers were a minute shorter. and suddenly you realize, this is actually a special form of torture. it's also a form of love to make you listen to Mio sing again because seriously 3 Yui songs in 4 = why on earth would you do this to me.

Track 5: a good start to it, a nice piano bit, and though Yui starts the song it's actually good still. then... everyone joins in. hm. title = Tenshi ni Fureta yo! here's my problem with this, i know that background. i've heard it before this song. worse, i think i heard it from an anime too. might've been a VN, could very well have been an I've Sound song which means i have it and just need to find it again. these are the things that REALLY get me because it's frustrating. it's mostly the way the chorus goes that is a dead ripoff. this isn't to the extent of Ace Combat 4 and Hellsing (if you've never heard this i'll enlighten you later) but i enjoy tangents more than sines and cosines. yes, bad trig joke.
it's a good song. no complaints because even though the background is a ripoff, it works. there's stuff about friendships and whatnot in here and murdering mages with (dick) worms. jokes aside, i do like this song legit and the bridge, while also blatantly taken elsewhere, is a good section. pop 101, have a good bridge followed by a solo, then chorus, and end. and it scores well on that.
Track 6 = Fuwa Fuwa Time. and this is a good place to start drinking. the full version of the song isn't terribad but it's close. seriously, hate this one.
finally you're done with CD1. to continue this i moved to CD2. 2 tracks? okay. 1 a karaoke version of the other, fine.
....it is not by the K-On girls. in fact, this is pretty far from a K-On song. enjoy, i know i did. hell, do, Hikari's pretty great. though i may be biased due to listening to FUWA FUWA TIME before this.
wonder what else i gots left. there... was a Complete Collection+ album for Oreimo whatever that means. heard it. actually like some of it, i think i have a crush on the little sister's voice or somethign because i found myself enjoying most of her stuff. then again it was only in this series because the stuff in Tamayura with her i did not like. did like some stuff on that vocal album too (which is No. 2 on 'things not reviewed because the aren't really osts or ops/eds'). and... Chihayafuru had a character song but it's also an OST. might do that.

Nichijou BOYZ EDITION - hilarious also anything with dragon quest references is automatically worth watching. also it has table tennis aka the manliest sport known to, uh, man. Kill Me Baby - none of the eps have really been as funny as the first one to me but I'll keep watching it because the ninja girl is pretty hilarious Mirai Nikki - better than the manga in my opinion but still not really anything special. it is entertaining though. Tantei Opera Milky Holmes Dai 2 Maku - pretty much the greatest show of the season, competition isn't too fierce and there isn't much going on outside of the comedy department anyway Guilty Crown - haven't started watching this yet but soon me and kurtfisto will be discussing it in this topic like you wouldn't believe
I still haven't caught up on the Winter shows, but I'm sort of close to. I'm about 3 weeks late now, but I might still post ep1 impressions of the Winter stuff. I also decided to drop Mirai Nikki. I'm 3 episodes behind and don't care about catching up. I kind of wanted to see how it all ends, but the characters are too annoying and terrible.
I saw a topic on OT about some people wanting doujins of the 3 year old in that Papa no Iu series. It might be the most disgusting topic I've seen on OT so far. I know it's OT so it's not shocking, but I still find it disgusting people like that even exist.
