Those people are dumb. Both sports are equally boring as ****.

At least soccer has the advantage of every 10 seconds of action NOT being interrupted by a couple minutes of songs and cheerleading or whatever while they review the play 3 times.

Except, well I don't have anything against low scoring sports. It's why I love baseball. And why I love football.

You illogically jumped to the conclusion that I think low scoring sports are bad, when I was criticizing the very argument that we both dislike.

I see Leon is doing the same thing too. I am wholly unsurprised.

No, it's a pretty logical conclusion to jump to considering you were berating it for being a low-scoring game.

*sigh*

A. My two favorite sports (well-documented) are some of the lowest scoring on the planet. Therefore it doesn't logically follow that I would rag on a sport for being low scoring.

B. It's not that the game is low scoring, it's that it's been all field goals and apparently shockingly bad execution of offense. Field goals are inherently boring. A 1-0 game of baseball or a 1-0 football match can be thrilling and filled with tension. Less so in a 12-0 college football game.

Saying it was shockingly bad execution of offense is incredibly inaccurate.

LSU didn't play good offensively, but that's because Alabama was just straight up smothering defensively. LSU could have put together a great offensive game and still struggled to put up points in this situation.

How do you tell the difference between really good defense and really bad offense in any given sport?

Some people look at LSU struggling to move the ball and say it was LSU being unable to execute on offense. Some people look at Alabama just dominating in every facet of the game and say that they just shut LSU down.

If the Quarterback is throwing the ball at the ground 5 feet in front of him, and overthrowing receivers by 10 yards, it's bad offense.

And if that quarterback stays in the game for all four quarters, it's bad coaching. Bama got good pressure on him, but Jordan Jefferson is a Bad Quarterback.

This was not a good defensive ball game, this was a bad offensive ball game. The defenses looked good because the offenses (namely LSU's) looked bad as hell.

Actually, Bama's offense wasn't bad. LSU just stunk it up like no other.

No.

In the NBA, there's a ton of players who are nothing more than "three point specialists." They can't defend, can't rebound, can't pass, can't block shots, can't do anything but hit three pointers at an effective rate, which would not unlike the kicker who can't do anything but kick.

Meanwhile, there's no such thing as "dunking specialists" in the league. If your only good quality is your ability to dunk, you're not going to last in the league the way a three point specialist can.

Not to mention not much is required from a three point specialist, as you're required to pretty much camp the three point line and wait for a pass while you're open.

Field goals are pretty much only interesting to watch when they're blocked or they're for the game for me. I totally see where Extha's coming from there.

I'd rather see a 0-0 defensive lockdown than a 21-0 field goal barrage. After the first two field goals the game is no longer close and would probably put you to sleep with the combination of the team that's behind not showing any signs of life and a lack of big plays from either team (since defensive stops don't matter as much if the team behind can't stop them from extending their lead and the team ahead is already ahead)

That's not a fundamental problem with college football, though. It's incredibly easy to come back from a two field goal deficit in the sport.

You seem to take issue with the LSU Tigers performance more than the actual sport.

I'm right there with you in terms of making fun of how God awful boring the sport is.

But ExTha thinks it's justification to call this a joke sport and laud sports like Soccer and Baseball.

Which I find funny that he can applaud baseball when his team was eliminated from the playoffs in a series where they outscored their opponents 28-17. >_>

I just want to nitpick that baseball is a far higher scoring game than football, it's not even close. Just because football awards more than one point per score doesn't make it higher scoring. Football does that to differentiate between different kinds of scores, not to inflate the score artificially.
