Ancient Cistern and Sandship are my two favorites. Both dungeons just brought it with their design, atmosphere, and bosses.

I agree with you about the Sandship's handling of the time mechanic - it was just cooler to see the whole ship transform. There's also arrow sniping, combat high above on the ship's sails, an amazing lead-up to the last boss, and a pirate captain.

An ancient pirate captain.

An ancient skeleton pirate captain.

An ancient robot skeleton pirate captain.

Named Scervo.

Pirate Captain was an unexpected amount of awesome. Loved that fight.

Sandship was just good all around -- design, setting, fun factor. I'd sat it's a top Zelda dungeon for me, right up there with the Forest Temple. Ancient Cistern is up there, too. Nintendo has been on point with the dungeons in this game, the best overall set in the series I'd say.

I'm at the Volcano Summit right now. Dem Fireshield Earrings.

Sandship is my favorite dungeon in the game. So good.

The tadtones thing didn't really bother me at all. It took me fifteen minutes at the most and was quite easy. I can understand why people don't like it, though.

Needless game time padding. I'm all for game time padding if it's good(like an extra dungeon or something), this was just annoying. You also have to keep in mind the other fetch quests that were also quite boring that you had to do in order to reach the other dragons(the tree one was ok, I'll admit that).
Tadpoles was just the icing on the cake, with the irksome swimming controls, getting dowsing halfway through instead of the beginning of it, ect. It was just a dumb move gameplay and design wise by Nintendo, imo.

Ahh I thought that said 'can't' not can...Oh well point still stands!

Oh that. You know... I've never seen that part of the game discussed (which is funny considering every little thing about SS has been nitpicked a hundred times over), but you're right, it does suck. We shouldn't be forced with a mandatory tutorial for one new maneuver when we're already 80% through the game. Poor design.

I wouldn't harp on it too much or anything, but yeah, it's a totally random time to introduce it. That should have been one of the first bird control tutorials or something. The fact it's almost the exact same move is just yeesh. There's a couple of those moments in SS where it's like 'how did this slip by.'

Anyway, Fire Sanctuary was good. It wasn't Ancient Cistern or Sandship good, but I'd rank it third so far. I kinda laughed at the idea of MOGMA MITTS being the item, but the underground segments were pretty cool. The boss -- spoilers -- was surprisingly easy, though. I was expecting a big showdown, but he went down quick. No chance against LINK. Best Link since OoT.

Some nice plot scenes after that dungeon. It's a shame Impa hasn't been in the game more. She's got a very cool design, enough that i like her more than most, even if she has little screentime. Needed her to fight with Girahim more often! Scene with Zelda was good stuff, classic Zelda moments. Loved hearing Zelda's Theme and dat Master Sword transformation. Too good.

I'm not finished yet -- have to go to Levias now -- but this is OoT tier for me. It's not better than Ocarina, but best one since? Looking like it. Gotta hope the TADTONES don't spoil the party.

Fire Sanctuary had the only room in the game that forced me to use a FAQ. It was the room with another frog/firewall, and I just couldn't think to stab one of the hundred water plants there.

Top Tier
Ancient Cistern
Sandship

Great Tier
Earth Temple
7th dungeon (see how I don't even spoil the NAME for HM)
Lanayru Mining Facility

Good Tier
Skyview Temple
Fire Sanctuary

I wasn't as impressed with #3 the second time around. The place was really well designed, but the weak boss and absent midboss knocked it down a couple spots. The dungeon's item also wasn't as fun as the whip during Ancient Cistern, and certainly not as cool as the bow during the Sandship. I'm an Earth Temple junkie - it's not long or complicated, but I love the look of the place and was thrilled when it introduced the Lizalfos, which really forced me to tread carefully into combat.

As for the 7th dungeon - the design of the place is unbelievably impressive (you'll figure out why as you try to leave the first room), but a couple of lacking elements keep it from the top tier.
