Something came up and this just flew past my mind. Will get a full 24 hours but new topic up around 9 tonight.
- Vote from 0-10, use 5 as an average, decimals are okay. - Don't be lame and use alts or anything like that. - Only vote if you've played enough of the respective game to have a good feel for the character. This if of course subjective for the character so you'll have to use your own judgment. But if you played fifteen minutes of the game once, you probably don't know the character well enough. - Nominations are closed until further notice.

Snow's not that great. Sure he's got that whole "boundless courage and determination" thing going, but compared to people like Locke, Zidane or uhhh Bartz, he's not particularly funny or likable in any way. His character design is HORRID. Is this like a fashionable look in Japan or something? The best thing about him is he's voiced Troy Baker - I'll give him an extra point for that.
Man, what. Snow was a cool character to me personality, but there's no way you can say he's bad in gameplay!
He's literally the best magic user in the game thanks to having the fastest cast times, so he completely destroys as a Ravager. Highest HP in the game, which is practically the only stat the entire game has that differs character to character (aside from attack/cast speed, where he's fastest caster and pretty fast on attacks). Best Sentinel since he's the only one based around tanking instead of evading plus the HP.

Uh, Strength and Magic? Are you seriously saying those don't differ?
Practically! Weapons are the biggest influence on them, and almost everyone's got weapons to cover any direction you wanted to go with them. Would only be animations or abilities that ever hold you back, but Snow's casting animations and magic weapons along with naturally having almost every commando/ravager ability means he can cover anything attack-wise perfectly.
I mean, you wouldn't expect it, but if you go magic-based weapon with him and just blast with ruin, he's still doing tons of damage really fast. Or if you go strength-based, switch over to ravager and go crazy with spells and they'll still build up the chain gauge faster than Hope/Sazh/Vanille sadly ever can.

Weapons feel like they give a very small spread of Str/Magic compared to the raw stats, at least in the maingame (I haven't done the aftergame yet). I mean, if we even compare just, say, Fang and Snow, there's a substantial strength difference (300-500 points at the end of the game). Never mind comparing actual extremes, such as Fang vs. Hope in either strength or magic. The stat spread is very large. I generally found the HP differences less important (because you want to keep your entire party alive anyway).
Fast casting animation time is certainly something Snow has and makes him a great Ravager (since chain building is more important than damage there), but his low magic means he won't, for instance, outdamage Hope if both are using magic to deal damage (provided both have the same role). Yeah, he casts about 50% faster, but that doesn't speed up the time spent refilling the ATB gauge, and Hope has over 50% more Magic than Snow anyway.
