How is it stupid? It's consistent with everything in the game. You are always at the mercy of the RNG, why should this be any different?

Dredmor achievement is super easy. Just start as an alchemist, which gives you Vitae, and collect gold until you can buy a Diggle Egg and some Grog from the vending machines. Mix them with the alchemist tool, done

They are adventure games, Awakened was fun, if you enjoy your Sherlock Holmes blended with Lovecraftian horror.

I haven't been able to hit him yet.

I have a feeling it has to be at least two players so you can target the city he's in and blow him up. You can't target your own cities with nukes.

I'd keep trying but the constant crashes are annoying me too much to continue right now.

Very easy way to nuke Santa:

Play a game with one CPU, you as Europe, the CPU as Russia.
Decrease the amount of cities to a lower amount. (I picked 10) I don't know if I was lucky or not, but all of Russia's cities were west of the Ural, so Santa wasn't going far.
Defcon 5-2 as you like, get ready to crush the giant.
Defcon 1: Santa in Russia? Nuke everything. (also silos and radar if you want to win)
Santa not in Russia? Nuke Russia anyway, leave none alive and particularly the silos destroyed. Hold onto your bombers or some submarines though, you can use them later to nuke Santa when he's visiting the radioactive Russian children.

Oh yeah, don't forget: your fleet can move north of Russia. But beware of their fleet arriving in southern Europe near the end of the game if you don't encounter them there.

The chances of getting something good from crafting are probably pretty low, but I'd still say they're much higher than the chances of winning anything in the raffle at the end.
