The site got pretty awful once it got flash enabled and the top rated/viewed just became a collection of YTMNDs by various users that became popular enough to have a fanbase mindlessly mass-upvote everything they created. Especially since so many of the things created post-flash enablation, particularly by those famous users, lacked the charm of classic YTMND in that they were 2 minute videos that compiled memes in random ways rather than 5 second gifs with music that could be parodied/altered easily. Not only did those not create new content to go through the meme-splicing cycle unlike classic popular YTMND content, but they massively stifled meme creation by preventing new memes from really being given a chance outside of memes forced by those same authors that would get massively upvoted/viewed on basis of, again, the creator rather than humor value.

The Emo/myspace suicide, Pedotown, Epic Manuevers/abuse of Nightwish music already popular, and the moon man racist ytmnds pretty much killed the site.

All websites have a lifespan of popularity. Ytmnd was yesterday. And this site is coming close too.

ytmnd was pretty funny when the fad of bizarro ytmnd took over, and everyone was taking fads and twisting them to be bad.

YTMND is one of those things I look back on as funny, but when I ever actually go back to relive those memories, I realize it was never funny, and I start to wonder why the Hell I ever wasted my time watching stuff that inherently lacked humor or interest.

I mean, even the ones with clips of neat songs are better served with me going to Youtube and listening, as opposed to staring at a mosaic of an identical jpeg.

The best part of YTMND was the fads, and the creative ways people would come up with to use them.

Besides, it's not like there's any other website that covers this niche as well as Gfaqs does...

I mean, yeah there's /v/, but MANY people have reasons they don't go there, and it's completely understandable.
And outside of that, there's crappy sites like IGN and stuff.
