Preempting the obvious: Why are you only watching it just now?
*shrug*

Anyway, here goes nothing.

okay, so it kind of starts out like a horror movie but these things happen. I bet all these blokes will be dead by the end of the scene

oh, I think that one dude lived, I was mostly right

nice opening sequence, holy god, this composer is legit

oh look, I really was almost right. Now he's dead

omg who the hell are all these people

oh hi Boromir, you've changed your name and gotten wiser and older and, you know, stuff like that

please don't turn this into a show about children, that'd be really obnoxious

omg, the king is the dude from Still Standing. Cannot take anything seriously anymore

hm, this is a pretty srs business show

yay, they each get their own puppy. I wonder if it casts spells or something

oh look, sex /sigh

I like Boromir's wife, eh is a well-developed character and doesnt afraid of sons who are training to become assassins

why do I get the distinct feeling I should dislike these two siblings

yeah, okay, I dislike these two siblings

oh look, sex /sigh

this girl looks positively underage, I guess that really drives home the "dark, grim" environs or something

now I see her breasts. How positively confounding

oh man, this girl and her bro are like totally elves except not really LOL

oh my god, I forgot Ronon Dex was in this show. Oh my god, Ronon, what have they done to you since Stargate Atlantis was cancelled

"have you bled" hahaha, I get it. What a show

oh look, sex /sigh

Boromir really ought to go be Still Standing's hand, I think it'd make for good comedy

and now we're back to Land of the Lost; okay, admittedly I laughed heartily at the aide's line about how they consider any wedding with less than three deaths dull

wait, the wedding is over? There was only one death as far as the underage elf and I could tell; I guess this is a dull wedding

Boromir and Still Standing are off to save the day; good for them, I am pleased with this outcome

okay, now I've seen it all -- Ronon Dex is effectively raping an underage elf. Well, the Stargate franchise is dead in the water but at least there's this?

Assassin's Kid is climbing again, there he goes...

oh look, sex /sigh

aaaand Assassin's Kid is dead!?

Hmm, 7/10. Will continue.

I think I'm going to watch the first episode again before I continue, actually. Among other reasons, I need to get a real feel for these new roles. Might fast-forward through the gratuitous nudity though. Might not.

Yeah, nearly all of the nudity in the show is unnecessary. More often than not it's just there as a device to get particular characters together to spout some exposition, or "expo" as I like to call it.

Feel free to call it that, too. It'll be huge in five years.

Yeah, I do see your point though. And it works, at least in the first ep, I guess. It's just... kinda hilarious.

I wonder how I'd react to the book sex. I really need to read the novels too.

Oh, I mean, they're naked women and I'm a straight guy, technically a bit more might have gone on there than I'll delve into for all our sakes, I just find the way they did it pretty standard-issue silly is all.

Am a bit creeped out about the thus-dubbed "underage elf girl" though. Swear she's too young for that, swear it.

Dany? Pff, you think she's too young in the show? They aged her up. She's like 13 or 14 in the books during that iirc.

For the record, that actress is 24, and there's nothing creepy about her! =P

Personally, maybe it's just me, I find nothing silly about the sex scenes. I think some people may find them silly just because that's their reaction, maybe not used to seeing it in most shows. Personally, I think we tip all our scales more in the sexy direction, we've already pretty much covered violence as much as possible on screen.

Heh, well I didn't actually believe she was underage; obviously that'd be illegal. But yeah, wow, 24? I'm 24 and while I look a bit young for my age, I swear that girl is 14.

That's an interesting outlook though, yeah.

Fair enough, I realize it's a "me" thing here but I definitely flinched at that one even beyond how young that actress looks to me. But yeah, you are right that no one (well, OK, most people) don't make a huge fuss out of decapitations anymore, haha.

There are some definite extraneous sex scenes in the show, but none of the ones in the first episode were them (if I remember correctly). If you find yourself being creeped out by stuff, that's the intended reaction.

And the actress is 24, she doesn't look that young.

One bit of sex I did find very fitting was the deal with Drogo's people. That crazy animalistic stuff really drove its point home with the sex in that scene.

Going by the first book alone, the show had much more. Particularly in the first episode, where barely any of the nudity or sex happened in the book.

As for the sex and nudity in general, don't be too put off by it. A lot of it's pretty important and well-done in the books. The show gets a bit gratuitous, but those scenes from the books are still there, and it tones it (mostly) down after the first episode. Sexposition is pretty silly though.

Really? Maybe it's just cause I was expecting it in the show and not in the book when I first read it so it had more impact, but I seem to recall several blowjob scenes and prostitution scenes in the book than in the series.

I know they added a few though in the TV show.
