I've never played it but I was under the impression that it shares extremely little continuity with Trigger. Crono changes the destiny of mankind. Crono has no character flaws. Lavos controls human evolution and advancement. Lavos is the enemy of mankind. Lavos gets Zeal to falsely worship him. etc The biggest difference here is that the Entity/Crono are not omnipotent.
