It wasn't until just looking it up now that I noticed the wide discrepancy between the quality of their offense year compared to their pitching. They are nearly polar opposites of the Giants

I like that Joe Girardi actually got mad enough to be thrown out over a call in an extra innings game after his team's already clinched. I don't mean that sarcastically, I really appreciate that he argued that awful call.

Now, it's not too much to ask for the same number of wins against Baltimore as the Rays get against the Yankees, right? Because the Red Sox would lose that tiebreaker game.
Of course not. Except...it's the Yankees. They've been trying to roll over for everyone that comes their way now that they're assured the top seed. I was listening to MLB Radio in the car this morning, and it's all Yankees fans savaging Girardi for not pinch-hitting for Romine, and the hosts rightly pointed out that he did the exact same thing (refusing to bring out Jeter or A-Rod even for a pinch-hitting role) in the second game of the doubleheader with the Rays last week, and the Yanks still swept it.
So I guess our only solace is that the Rays have been choking pretty hard this month as well, at least when they aren't facing the Red Sox. Although that series win over Toronto makes me nervous--feels like maybe they're coming back to life.
Honestly? After I realized that the Sox allowed A.J. to work into the eighth inning in Game 1, I called this season over. After Jacoby's gamewinner, I feel like they can still do this. But what's the use? At the very best, it's a repeat of 2009, a year in which, this past offseason, I honestly couldn't remember who the AL wild card team was. The Red Sox were that forgettable in the postseason that year, and it's going to be another three-and-out this year (here's hoping it will at least be a memorable one like '05 instead of a forgettable one like '09).
Actually, you know what? I kind of hope they do have to go to a Game 163 with the Rays. It might just be the kick in the a** this team needs.
Also, let's look at the positives: the Red Sox just had their first 30-30 player in franchise history. If they do make the playoffs, Jacoby deserves the MVP for the way he carried this team through this s****y September.

Nominate The Kid vs. The Guy (I Wanna Be The Guy) for the Greatest Gaming Rivalry Contest! Also, nom Luigi/King Boo, not Luigi/Waluigi.
I remember like a month and a half ago I was like "hey red sox fans, tigers just beat the rays 3-1 in the series, we helped yo asses out"
and some douchey sox fan here was like "rays so irrelevant"
LOL
also, how dumb is WAR/10, I read up on it today, and was looking at some WAR numbers, and they LITERALLY have verlander's 2009 WAR as better than his 2011 WAR.

Seriously if they blow this, the Orioles, I just don't even know what to say. 4-run lead with three outs to get and you can't put away a struggling Boston team. I f***ing hate you.
